DAVE WILEY SUGGUMBS
David W. Wiley, 83, died Sunday
afternoon^ June 29th, in the Highlands-
Cashiers Hospital following a prolonged
illness•
Wiley, known by everyone as
"Uncle Dave", was a native of li'oy.
South Carolina. He married lula Jane
Rogers in 1908. In 1925 they moved to
Highlands where he worked as a carpenter
until the 1950*s.
He is survived by the widow, Lula
Rogers Wiley| six children, Durand of
Ft. Worth, TexasI Albert Lee of Forest
City, N. C.| Floyd of St. Petersburg,
Floridaj l^Irs. Richard Veazey of St.
Petersburg, Florida; Ifrs. Travis ICillian
of Ft. Worth, TexasI three sisters,
J&’s. Ella Dorn of Troy, S. C.|
Sallie I'ke Edwards and I-'irs. Neil EdiT8.rds,
both of Bradley, S. C.j fifteen grand
children, twenty great-grandchildren,
and four step-grandchildren.

FESTIVAL
Friday, July U, will be an excit
ing day in Highlands, due to the care
ful planning and hard work of the
Chamber of Commerce.
Lasting all day will be an art
exhibit on Main Street. At 2:00 p.m.
at Highlands Ball Park, the Highlands
Braves vs. the Franklin Tourists. At
U:00 p.m. there will be a pet show in
the Community Iheatre area (all animals
must be on a leash). At 8 p.m. there
iTill be a street dance at Potts I-feirket
during which you can witness the crown
ing of Miss Highlands at 8:30 p.m.
