several days with her mother, Mrs. Helen

proved to be one of the funniest motion
pictures of 1968 - or any year - and one
of the most successful. It had even
hard-nosed motion picture theatre oi'iners
laughing - all the way to their banks.
"The Odd Couple" , which plays Fri
day and Saturday, August 15 and l6, at
the GALfiX THaiTRE had its world premiere
in Ikrch of 1968 at Radio City I5isic Hall
in New York. The third Ueil Simon come
dy to play at the 6,200 seat landmark
theatre - "Barefoot in the Park" and
"Come Blow Your Horn" both were winners—
it was generally agreed that "The Odd
Couple" would follow the footpaths of
its able predecessors and be a big money
maker. But few were prepared for the
spectacular success of the motion pic
ture.
In lU weeks at Radio City lisisic Hall,
the longest run for any film in the the
atre *s history, "The Odd Couple" grossed
a sensational $3,096,629, the largest
sum ever taken in by a motion picture
at a single theatre.
