Notice is given of the iinnual I^rish
Meeting to be held on Monday, August 25.
The evening will begin with a parish din
ner served at 6:30 ($1.2^ a plate) in
the Fellowship Hall; the parish meeting
itself T-Till be called to order in the
church at 7s30. Reports of the past
year*s activities will be presented, and
a vestry elected to serve throughout the
coming year.
Barbecue A Success
The Firemen’s Barbecue held last
Saturday was very successful. The Fire
Department cleared approximately $800.00
on the chances for the washer, dryer and
motorcycle given away. Ihe total pro
ceeds on the barbecue is incomplete at
the present, but is almost enough to pay
for the protective clothing for the
firemen.
Winner of the I%ytag washer and
dryer was Morris Wilson of Highlands5
W. J. I-brris, summer resident, won
the motorcycle.
The event was very much enjoyed by
all, but especially the kiddies.

LITTLE LEAGUE CLOSES SEASON
Special activities Wednesday night

for 1969• For the finale League
Champions, Highlands PTA Cards were
pitted against a playoff team consist
ing of five players from Blue Moon Gift
Shop Braves, five from King’s Inn Phil
lies, and five from Perry Agency Pirates.
After the game the championship trophy
T-ras presented to Corbett Holland, mana
ger of the Cards. Coaches were Junior
Croi'^e and Steve Foster. Free water
melon was available for all and the draw
ing was made for the I96O Chevrolet.
The ticket selling campaign for the car
was very successful. Little League id.sh-
es to thank the many individuals who
contributed so generously. The money
will be used to finance a trip to an
Atlanta Braves game and to build a net-r
backstop for next year*
Mike Wood has been selected Player-
of-the-Week for the final week of the
season. He is the son of I-Jr. and Mrs*
E. V. 'jbod. Mike has developed into the
league’s strikeout artist as evidenced
by his stellar perfromance ite-st week.
In the 3 innings of the first game in
which he pitched. Hike allowed no hits,
and struck out 8 of the 9 batters. The
second game was a one-hit performance
including 3 strikeouts. Batting-wise for
the week Mike was 5 for 11.
