BODIES CF TEENAGERS FOUND
NEAR RAINBOW FALLS
A deep pool under Rainboi-j P^lls
near Sapphire Tuesday yielded the bod
ies of two Buncombe County teenagers
who had traveled to Horsepasture River
Sunday for an afternoon of fun.
Dead are Robertson Miller, Jr.,
17, and laurie I'-fichelle Nicholson, 16,
both of Asheville.
Young Robertson’s body was recov
ered about 2; 30 p.m. by Woodrow Ivilson,
a Scuba diver with the Highlands Rescue
Squad.
Shortly before noon Miss Nicholsonfe
body was spotted by searchers wedged
between two rocks under a log where
the river drains out of the pool.
All evidence indicates that the
young couple fell from the top of the
falls, a distance of more than 200 feet.
Wilson said he found the boy on
his first dive. He said he had been
under only about 15 minutes when he
found the body about 20 feet down. He
said the boy was dressed in short blue
jeans and no shirt. (CONTINUED ON P. 19)
