Purchaser was Realtec, Inc., of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla, Puealtec is a subsidiary of Certain-teed Products Corporation, Valley Forge, Pa., one of the world's leading producers of building materials. Healtec handles land acquistions and de** velopment for Certain-teed’s Urban Devel opment Group. Bilbert Edwards, President and Chair man of the Board of Realtec, announced that the elegant old resort hotel, which vas built in 1896, will continue in oper ation and is being renovated. Constr-uct- ion of condominium apartment homes has alrea(fy started on the grounds within a short stroll of the Inn, he aaid. The first condominium will have four residences, and furnished models will be on display July l;th. A second building will contain residences ranging from one bedroom to three bedroom units. ‘•¥e believe that condominium homes at Sapphire Valley will be eagerly sought,' Mr. Edwards said. ’'Our research indicates that many who have stayed at the Inn and enjoyed the serene beauty of Fairfield Lake and Bald Mountain desire permanent homes in the sylvan setting. In addition. there is a strong demand for second homes in this area by people, living in Atlanta, Raleigh, Columbia, Greenvillej Spartanburg and along the Gold Cost of Florida. A colony of ^8 beautiful homes at Sapphire Valley is the resort retreat frr many from these areas. Condominium owners at Sapphire Val ley TfTill receive several unusual ser vices, Edwards reported. If they wish they may have daily maid service from the Inn and meals delivered by room ser vice waiters. Security, lawn care and exterior building maintenance, as well as the opening and closing of residences j mil be handled by year-round hotel maintenance crews. **The biggest advantage is that the hotel will sublet apartment residences for owiers while they are away, if they Tirish," Mr. Bdwards said. "By taking advantage of this service, the omers aay not only receive considerable income but enjoy the advantages of a real estate tax shelter including charge-off for depreciation, interest on mortgage and expense of trips to inspect their pro perty. " Conduminium owners will have full use of hotel and country club facilities, according to Edwards. Included are the dining room which features the excellent cuisime of Joseph Gharbi, a French chef from North Africa and cocktail lounge, sailing and fishing, four tennis courts and golf on one of the finest l8-hole COF'T ON PAGE 21
