BAUHRUGKER TO ARRIVE Word has been received from the office of Senator Strom Thurmond that Dr. John F. Baummcker has been declar ed essential for this area by the U.S. Selective Service. This means that Dr. Baurarucker will now begin practice here as scheduled, August 1,1971* Dr. Baumrucker*s office will be located in the building with C.T. lyfe-ngum, . Jack Calloway, Hospital ildministrat- or, xTOuld like to express appreciation to the individuals and civic groups who T'TTOte letters to the North Carolina Medical Advisory Committee, on behalf of Dr. Baumrucker. Calloway reports that Senator B. Everett Jordon, Congressman Roy A. Taylor and Senator Thurmond were most helpful with suggest ions and I’jriting letters to the proper authoritiefj in Washington, D.C. Without the help of the three Congressmen, it is likely that Dr. Baumrucker would not have been declared essential for this area. ARTS AND GRAFTS FESTIVAL On August 26, the Highlands Recreatior. Department will sponsor an Arts and Crafts Festival, Assisting in the festivities will be J-kcon County Recreation Department. I%co Crafts, Norma's Crafts and Yarns, The Rotary Club and other clubs, organi zations and individuals. Idsplayed at the festival will be a great variety of crafts. Among the many crafts will be furniture making, chair bottoming, (Cont. on page Hi) HOSPITAL BAZAAR The annual Highlands-Cashiers Hospital Bazaar, scheduled for July 30- 31, is once more shaping up into an exciting event. Everyone in the communit ies of Cashiers and Highlands is busily preparing his or her contribution.
