But writer-director Ken Hughes ignored Guinness* seemingly painful projection of’his dialogue; he knew, as did Guinness that Charles I of En land actually had suffered this speech problem. The historic detail which makes this new Columbia picture, in Panavision and Technicolor, so authentic a re-creation of turbulent l?th Century England was carried through even to the point of planting a wart on Harris*chin, a blemish not generally favored by actors, Cromwell had several unsightly warts on his face I Harris who portrays the Puritan leader, also has them in the picture.
