"HUSBANDS"
Harry, Gus and Archie have fallen
in love with the most beautiful four -
letter word in the language. IlfelU
Cassavetes and co-stars Peter Falk and
Ben Gazzara work beautifully together
as three middle-aged buddies trying to
escape from the reality of death and
their own lives. The trio is so intense
that a more appropriate title would be
"Friends,; as their feelings for one
another are movingly and often hilariously-
portrayed, If scenes run too Ion
then do incidents in real life, which
is vividly mirrored in the film. I'feny
scenes stand outs the voniting sequence
(uncomfortably realistic) the inept
singing and drinking group, the opening
funeral service, Cassavetes* vigorous
love-making with Jenny Runacre, See
husbands if you know whc.t*s good for you.
It is an absolute must if you care ary-
thing about movies. It is such an
enjoyable movie, such a terrific movie,
that it will be talked about for years I"
