Chriatmas the members entertain
ed dunng the Christmas dinner and
assisted the SCA with a religious
pageant-play. as well as with a
ietting for an Easter service.

The highlight of the SCA's work
this year was the promotion of Pre-
Easter Week This activity, tried

tian is familiar with the bread sale,
the auction, and "Ugly Man'* Con-
t4st, won by Phi K.ippa Alpha,
which were all fund raising cam
paigns In the interest of World Uni
versity Fund. Although our ^>al
was not quite reached, a total of
$300 was ^nated.
As with all other student organi
zations on our campus, the e^ of

intramural championship. He has
used his abihty as an artist for
publicity needed by the school and
the fraternity. Everyone has seen
his praters advertising various
school functions. He also used this
talent to make the place card used
at the banquet.
These are only a fc?w of the nu
merous services which BUI render
ed to the fraternity. His constant
willingness lo work for his brothers,
and his outstanding fraternity spir
it are his chief virtues. Realizing
this, the Phi Kaps knew that they
couldn’t go wrong by electing Billy
Drau^n their “Man of the Year.”

That was the picnic that the men
of Caldwell had on May 13. Be
cause of rain. the picnic
was held in the Carolina Room of
the Christian Church
Can you imagine a group of boys
— I mean men — eating that many
hot dogs? Some of them must have
thought we were having a contest
Instead of a supper. The contest
being: “How many hot dogs can

Sigma Pi Alpha on April 24 and
May 13 held its two major social
activities. On April 24, Mr. and Mrs
Johnston. Joe Bulla. Pat Davis, Con
nie Davis. Vera Weathersby. and
Billy Weatherby attended the Na
tional Language Convention at St.
Mary’s Junior College at Raleigh.
At the Convenlon’s banquet. Cecil
Willis and Milton King were award
ed certificates, for service in the
local chapter here at the collcge.
The closing meeting for the mem
bers was held at Parker’s on May
13. The meeting began with a ban
quet after which the officers were

First Year In New Housr
The biggest event in the fra
ternity during ^e past year seems
to be that after many years of

House has now become the new
fraternity house. Plans for redec
orating the Chapter Room are now
in progress. This is to be supplied
with new furniture and a television

During the year Sigma Alpha
has had sixteen new member.^ add
ed to its brotherhood. These ne«
members were honored at a ban
quet given at Parker’s in April.
On Awards Day Sigma Alpha re
ceived for the fourth straight year
the softball championship trophy.
Hesperian Club
The Hesperian Club, accompan
ed by Mrs. Hilsworth, sponsor, and
Dr. Hartsock, advisor, journeyed
out to Lamm’s Cottage on May IS
for a combination outing and busi
ness meeting. Hamburgers, drinks
and wit were on hand to highlight
the venture.

then gave the English meaninR to

were so successful that I started
reading notes from all my courses

“I remember how my fellow stu
dents laughed when I told them
