In recent meetings the sisters have discussed the details of 'the ban quet, including the fchoosing of the mi-nu and the appointing of com mittees. Miss Bette Pomfrey was in dharge of arranging the event at the Ship ’N’ Shore restaurant. Miss Fan Faulkner, Miss Jackie Rivf.-nbark, and Miss Sally Mc Lean are making arrangements for a band. Dr. Mildred Hart.sock will be the guest speaker at the banquet. At the meeting of the sisters on February 1, Mis.s Tucker Uzzelle, who is in charge of the committee on nationalization, reported the results of her investigation regard- inj; i-'xix.'nses and other require ments. The sisters decided to order composite pictures of the sorori ty members again this year. Miss Brenda Cale and Miss Emily Wat ers were delegated to select a gift for the new baby, born in Jan uary, of a sister, Mrs. Dot Elliott. Much discussion centered around the.idea of changing the time of the sorority meetings so that more freshman members could attend, Phi Sigma Banquet ] but no decision was reached. Decorations will be arranged by Miss Mickey Hayes and Miss Sally McLean. Miss Helen Williams, Miss Nancy ' Jean Edwards, Miss Brenda Tyn dall, and Miss Linda Cale are in charge of securing entertainment, and favors will be provided by Miss Cynthia Smith, Miss Becky Webb, Miss Frances Evett, and Miss Betty Ann Thomas. Dance Is Canceled By Sorority Delta Sigmas sorority, who spon sors the annual Valentine Dance, voted not to have the dance to morrow evening, as previously planned. Tyn dall, chapter sifpervisor; . that on “Fraternity Standards” was led by Russell T. Roebuck, Alumni Con trol Board President; and chapter president John Hales assisted by William Willis led the group in a discussion of “Rushing Proced ures.” The chapter members, pledges, their wives and dates were the guests of the Alumni Control Board on Friday night at a dance held in the Wilson Room of the Cherry Hotel. Sandwiches and cookies were served from silver platters and fruit punch from a silver punch bowl. The table was centered with an arrangement of carnations in the Valentine motif. DAIRY PRODUCTS “In the past two weeks many important events have taken place in the life of Sigma Pi fra ternity,” Jerry Narron president of the fraternity announced today. The first of these occurrences was the initiation, informal and formal, of pledges on January 28 and 30. The main ceremony was held on Saturday, January 30, with Mr. William Marable, pro fessor of English at Chowan Col lege, presiding. The men chosen to become a part of the national brotherhood of Sigma Pi are Wil liam Batchelor, Clyde Morgan, and Robert Swineford. A few days following the initia tion of these new members, an election of officers for the coming semester was held. Those men elected to fraternity offices are as follows: Jerry Narron, president; Jimmy Taylor, sergeant-at-arms; Richard Britt, vice president; Clif ton White, secretary; and Clarence Shealy, treasurer. These officers officially assumed their positions at an installation service held last Monday night. Sigma Pi is now awaiting a visit of the chapter’s field execu tive. The guest is expectecd to visit the fraternity for several days to assist in fraternity affairs. Sigma Tau Begins Banquet Plans Sigma Tau Chi sorority held a short meeting Monday at which time several items of business were discussed and settled. The sorority has begun to make plans for spring rush. A commit tee has been appointed to make definite preparations. Heading this committee as chairman is Miss Linda Lankford, and working with her are Miss Mary Liz Hpward, Miss Alease Willoughby, Miss Mar ti Sugg, Miss Jewel Blowe, and Miss Sandra Sp§U.
