Last Monday evening the At
lantic Christian Bulldogs raced
to a 48-39 halftime lead over
the Pfeiffer Indians. This per
formance was perhaps their best
offensive showing todate. With
Carraway and Gilmore, hitting
on the fast break, sparked a
fine team effort. The Bulldogs
hit for 55 points in the second
half against Western Carolina
but not as spectacular as Mon
day night.
Henry Logan performance Sat
urday night against the Bulldogs
was the finest individual effort
we have seen thus far this
season. Logan hit for 18 points
the first half and followed this
up with 28 the final stanza.
Standing only 6 ft., he is able to
dunk the ball with ease.
The Bulldogs moved their rec
ord to 7-6 with their victory
over Pfeiffer Monday evening.
This victory total surpasses the
entire number of wins recorded
last year. Bulldogs have accom
plished this feat with a lineup
that has included two freshmen,
a junior, and two sophomores.
The reserves include a junior
and three freshmen. The basket
ball future at Atlantic Christian
is certainly on the upswing with
this fine talent. Keeping this tal
ent in school and available for
play will be of upmost import
ance in Atlantic Christian basket
ball future.
Winstead Reward
The Winstead Reward, a treat
at the College Coffee Shop, is
awarded to the following play
ers: Elmer Hobbs for the Cata-
ba game as he hit for 12 points
and 10 rebounds, Ed Carraway
for the Old Dominion game as
he hit for 8 points and had
many steals to aid the second
half comeback by the Bulldogs,
Sonny Floyd for the Georgia
Southern' game — Sonny serves
as team manager and in general
Coach Norfolk’s right hand man
when on the road. Larry Jones,
' the rough and ready forward for
I the Bulldogs, was honored for
the American University game
' as he hit for ll points and 15
j rebounds. Robert Gilmore, a
freshman guard, receives the
award for the Stetson University
game. Gilmore led the scoring in
this game as he hit for 18 points.
Pep Rally
fw l^ave asked
that the student body be thanked
^r their “fine support” at the
Pep Rally held last Monday and
the fine turnouts at the home
basketball games. Their special
th^ks goes to the pep band
which was present at the rally.
They are Steve Perry, Bill Grif-
fm, John Cederburg, Ricky Rich-
man, and Bill Vaughan.
The Atlantic Christian cheer
leaders have not been content
with just supporting the Bulldogs
at home but have made special
efforts to attend many aw’ay
games. The trip to Western Caro
lina last Friday was made more
enjoyable with the cupcakes fur
nished by the cheerleaders. A
telegram was also sent to the
team when the Bulldogs took
part in the “Hatters Tourna
ment.” They are doing their
job.
Intramural
The Intramural Program slow
ing down during the exam pe
riod will be at full steam on
January 31. On this date play in
the basketball league will begin.
Play will be conducted Monday
thru Thursday. Results of foul
shooting held this week will be
reported next week.
We have been informed that
Rex Wheatley, a senior at Atlan
tic Christian, will not return
next semester. Wheatley’s enthu
siasm and fine support of the
Atlantic Christian Bulldogs, in
every sport, will be missed. He
has not missed a home basket
ball game in three years.
Let’s end with this question
