D0« DAYS!
um fold
It’s ama/ing how people treat
sports like a religion. They talk
about it almost all the time,
worship the ground that their
favorite stars walk on, and get
mad as H. when said teams do
not perform to the standards of
the generally high expectation
of the fan.
1 know that I have been guilty
of that at times, and usually I
feel a little low afterwards, for
it’s not the way for God’s elect
to act.
I was in church Sunday
morning, going through my
Bible while waiting for the
services to begin, when the
person sitting next to me dis
played to my eyes what he had
scribbled down on his pad
PITTSBURGH STEELERS H\-
The Same Yesterday, Today,
and Forever.-Hebrews 13:8.
This did not settle very well
with me. for a banner in my
church reads: Jesus Christ- The
Same Yesterday, Today, And
Forever.-Hebrews 13:8. Was
the person putting Pittsburgh
on an equal footing as my risen
Savior?
Granted Pittsburgh is a good
team. But none of them have
gone to a rugged cross to shed
their blood for me. They have
shed blood and broken some
bones, torn muscles and ten
dons to win a small piece of
metal. They may pull a spectac
ular play to win a game which
many people label as miracu
lous. However, the only mir
acles that I care about are those
that the Lord provides for me.
A lot of you have probably
stopped reading this by now
because of the CHRISTIAN
content of the column. I
know that you w'ould rather be
reading a college poll to see
where your favorite team is
ranked. However, there is only
one poll that will really satisfy
me. That’s the ‘‘Born Again”
Poll, which alway's ranks God
as #1.
