The spirit is in the air and if you are planning a “Swinging” Christmas, here is a poem by Clement Moore that will boost your morale: A Visit From Saint Nicholas. ’Twas the night before Christmas and all through the pad Not a hep cat was swinging, and that’s nowhere, dad; The stove was hung up in that stocking routine. In hopes that the fat man would soon make the scene; The kids had a!l had it so they hit their sacks. And me and the bride had begun to relax. When there started a rumble that came on real frantic So I opened the window to figure the panic; 1 saw a square short that was makin’ fat tracks. Bein’ pulled by eight dogs who were wearing hat racks; And a funny old geezer was flipp- in his lid , , He told ’em to “make it” and man, like they did! I couldn’t help diggin’ the scene on the roof, As I stood there just waiting for chubby to goof; They stood by the chminey in bunches' and clusters ’Til! tubby slid down, coming on like Gangbusters. Like he was the squarest, the . ..’nost absolute. But face it, who cares when he left all that loot? He laid the jazz on me and fled from the gig. Wailing, “Have a cool yule and man later, Mke, dig? On November 28, from 9-1 a. m. -rthe Bennett family had its annu al Thanksgiving Ball. The lovely decorations entwined the theme, “Harvest Moon;” the attire was semi-formal. We wero entertain ed with music by Charlie Morri son and his all-stars. During the intermission, refreshments were served in the foyer. “The Blue Room” was the theme for Reyno’ds Hall dance held in the dance _area of the Student Union. The guests included young men from neighboring colleges. Wedding bells have rung for Zenolia Thorton, a member of the sophomore cIess. We wish, for her all joys in her future. The persons who are responsi ble for the recent movies must have had the Bennett girls !n mind when they presented “Tam my and the Bachelor.” Everyone enioyed the “flick.’’' No Room (Continued from Pago 3) season. Lord Jesus, there is room in my heart for Thee.” Sometimes it’s hard to tell who’s behind all that make-up. Schools are running full blast now, and again the teachers in some rooms are m.aking the little things count. Holiday Fashions They’re homeward bound for the holidays. The season for these young ladies will be filled with festive happiness, carols, bells, gifts, snow, ho'.ly, mistletoe, and dresses, dresses dresses. They will look merry and be merry as they join the many party-goers in the early twilight hours. Brenda Saunders, ’62, of Gas tonia, N. C., will set the tone of the season in a brilliant orange two-piece velveteen dress. Her ^ dress i.^ featured with an array i of beautiful colored sequins .'ind sparkling ships of rhinestones. For the special ho iday event, Shelia Caesar, ’60, of Brooklyn, N. Y., has chosen a flattering green satin sheath with a cut away look. Her outfit can double for another occasion once the matching overskirt has been re moved. Thjse in the New England ?rea will catch Elizabeth Payne, ’61, as she gather,^ with the party- goers in a crisp floral print bal loon dress. Bo d blue and green floral designs ■ highlight a snow- white background. Liz is from Boston. Mass. In sunny Florida, Sharon Mi- ^ell, '63, will be wearing a cheer ful alluring, yellow organdy dress- Her dress is smart'y designed with tiny shoestring shoulder straps and a spray of tiny orange, white, and green flowers, with a bright orange wai.=5tband. Sharon chooses matching -orange satin pumps She is from Fort Lauder dale, Florida. Evening hours will find Yvette Williams, ’63, of Springfield, Mass. in a vivid, holly-red, lace sheath. As bewitching and dazzling as Christmas are these lovely young ladies adorned in holiday bound attire, which will serve them, as che year turns toward January, half a winter of dances, dates, and big week-ends yet to come. SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY Laura Jackson was in for a big surprise when she entered her room and the room suddenly iic- came lighted and many friends began singing “Happy Birthday.” The party was given by her room mate, Shirley Bruton. The girls enjoyed refreshments of cake, potato chips, peanuts and soft drinks. glorifying and praising God for all the things that hey had heard, and seen, as it was told unto them.
