Includes 1 year subscription to EBONY or 6 months to JET SENIORS TELL BENNETT TO GET ON THE GOOD FOOT The union needs to reflect the personality of a woman’s college. No curfew for the seniors, and co-ed visitation. Provision of more social ac tivities for students. More parking space for all students’ cars. When will the desk lamps be restored in the senior dorm? Laundry and meals should be optional. I really feel that the pool should be open every night, and we need more dances. Some funds should be ap propriated for complete re novation of the Infirmary and the Medical Staff, also the Administration building. Eliminate the double stand ard, the fact that some stu dents are getting over while others are working hard to make it. Bennett should go co-ed. We really need a re-evalu ation of the general gradua tion requirements. Some administrators should be expelled, for examples!!!! Longer hours for the Snack Bar and the Post Office. Bennett should get some adequate washing machines for all the dorms. Get rid of tickets on the student cars. It would be nice if the physical education dept, were a little more cohesive.' Senior women should be thought of as mature women and not someone that needs to be sheltered. Dorms should remain a status symbol, and the senior dorm for seniors. Bennett can improve on the food situation. Bennett needs to have a rental service, example for refrigerators. The science division should realize the potential of all of its students, and not a certain few. Bennett should find a better way to inform students about opportunities that are avail able for jobs. Certain electric appliances that are a necessity such as radios should not be an add ed expense to the students. For the price we already pay for room and board this should be included already. It appeared that B.C. was going through a depression when the students arrived at breakfast only to .find NO EGGS, just bread and meat. ROVING REPORTER What Is Your Opinion Of The XX Olympiad. About the XX Olympiad, I feel that the judges were extremely harsh in decisions involving U. S. athletes. I may be prejudiced against them as an American, yet I feel that a neutral party would feel the same way. I do not look forward to future Olym piads; I only see them as get ting more difficult for every one involved. —Gail Dickerson Sophomore I felt that at that particular time it was inappropriate for such a political murder. It is quite disgusting when you cannot have an organiMd game of sports without a political or racial undercur rent being involved. —Darlene Rose Junior I think all the beauty of athletics was lost in this year’s Olympics. It became too political. Also I felt that the repressing of the gold medals from the black athletes was an injustice that should not be overlooked. If their gold medals were taken as a re sult of a common brotherly gesture then why weren’t other medals taken as a re sult of the shedding of tears or the throwing of the peace sign. My conclusion from these actions is that the Olym pics should be discontinued. For as long as there is hate, war, and racism, incidents such as the previous ones will occur at the Olympics or any where else that there is a world wide fussion of people and injustice will not tri umph. —Uyvonne McFadden Freshman All in all the olympiad was very dynamic even though there was tragedy in volved. I felt there was a little unfairness too, but the basketball game was very much so. Mark Spitz was tremendous and of course Larry Black, Eddie Hart and their teammates. —Jennifer Wilkins ’73 I think it was nice this year. Next year, maybe the U.S. will be ready, and will win more medals, especially gold. The murders were ter rible. The Olympics is a sign of peace. Hostility dies down at this time and the deaths ruined it. Even with the win ning of medals, it didn’t seem the same. —Linda Wallace Freshman I liked the games, but not the deaths. After that, every thing was better. I don’t think they should have stopped he games. The U.S. track team concerning the Blacks was un fair. —Denise Whiitle Freshman I think everything was al right, until the murders. They should have stopped the Olympics until the disaster was solvei But then, they shouldn’t Imve because of the people who paid. They could have stopped two or three hours of the games. —Phyllis Carroll Freshman I think it was a complete mess and politically orientat ed. —Marie Burns Freshman POET'S CORNER THEME: POLITICS VS. LOVE LOVE MISTAKES Our love was all a mistake I’m sorry we didn’t realize it until it was too late. We thought this was love, oh so real We thought this until the shiny cover began to peel I was happy to love you How was I to know I was only making you sad and blue All the heartaches were all my fault I thought our love had the perfection of a store bought malt It seems all my dreams and hope are going to crumble Now I will know not to fall just because I’ve stumbled. —Sandra White A BED TIME PRAYER FOR HIM As I kneel before my bed each night, At the close of a weary day I bury my head in my trembling hands As tears fall as I pray Dear God, as unworthy aS I am I ask one thing of thee Bless the one I love tonight Help him to remember me Dear God, he’s only human, you know So when the day is done He may be as lonely as I am now. And turn to another one Not always can I turn to him And take him by the hand But God you can go with him And make him understand Just help him to keep me in his heart ’Till soon we meet again Although we are sometimes far apart, I love him God .... Amen. —Anonymous POLITICS ON ELECTION DAY Nixon or McGovern, that’s what’s happening man They both gonna end the war in Vietnam Gonna bring peace and harmony Yea they are, to this racist country. They gonna feed the poor, fatten them up Don’t mean nothing that they’ll do it with what rich whities don’t dump They gonna do right by us dumb niggers Gonna let us show that we can be more than chumps Yea man, they’re really what’s going on They gonna be nice and cool for us poor fools, That is, until election day, Then, my black brothers and sistei-s Dig it, dumb dudes They gonna tell you to kiss their ass. —Anonymous THE POLITICS OF AMERICA America will not sign the treaty banning genocide Because from its own murders it can no longer hide. The murder of millions of non-whites in this country Their dirty ass scandals locked in the mind won’t see. Annihiliation of all colored peoples in body and soul In this country is a thing for all to behold. The ghettos and slums built to oppress Blacks The reservations created to give the Reds no slack. Then whitey created the glorious word patriotism To keep all those under his damn feet in colonialism. Slavery is not gone, freedom has never existed For people with the wrong color skin mind twisted. So when the natives and black “immigrants” got restless Whitey said we’ll emancipate them but keep them manless. Freedom was shouted to the high heaven but tripping to hell Was the only way that this freedom would sell. So whitey is still sitting in his White House office Dealing a death hand to all those under his thumb Until the Ace of spade comes up amiss And is followed by guns and violence till the revolution comes. —Amrvi WHO FOR PRESIDENT Nixon For President!! McGovern For President!! Who’s it gonna be??? My reply was . . . It don’t make no difference . . . neither one of them gona do anything for me!!! —Natlyn T. McGhee FROM A BLACK PERSPECTIVE Wallace for president his momma for vice president was scribbled on the men’s room wall on over the toilet Where it’s supposed to be. —Don L. Lee (Continued on Page 4)
