Belles come up short against Averett

There is a saying, “If you don’t
succeed at first try, try, again.”
That should be the motto of the
Bennett Belles basketball team af
ter a lost to Averett College with a
score of 67-50 Nov. 29.
The Belles started the game on
a good note against Averett Col
lege with the first half score Bennett
College 21 points and Averett Col
lege 32 points.
Unfortunately, the Belles were
not able to catch up during the
second half but came close. One of
Averett’s big advantages was their
height advantage difference from
Bennett College.
Dain Magodo, senior from
Zimbabwe and Laticia Jolly,
sophomore from Ohio were
Bennett’s two high scorers.
Magodo scored 12points andJoDy
scored 15 points.

Nikki Berryman, senior from Ohio
scored 6 points; guard Cinzia
Atkinson, senior from North Caro
lina scored 6 points; forward
Lakresha Gilyard, freshman from
South Carolina scored 3 points ;
and guard Amanda Pecchioni,
sophomore from Kentucky scored
2 points.
The lost to Averett College was
a rough one, but all the Belles can
do is try to look ahead to the future
games.

Zimbabwe hotshot...
Dain Magodo of Zimbabwe is still leading the Bennett attack
for the 1994-95 season. Magodo led the team in assists and scoring
last season and will quarterback the Belles for the remainder of the
season. She is averaging more than 13 points per game this season.
Belles travel to Mardi Gras city
The Bennett basketball team will be traveling to New Orleans.
They were a week late for the Bayou Classic, but the Belles took
on Dillard University, losing 47-79.
She^s back!
Nikki Berryman 6’0" senior from Cincinnati, joined the
Bennett team for her final year after missing the season opener.
Lady Aggies get the ball bouncing...
Lady Aggies of N.C. A&T will be playing in Carolina’s
Invitational in Chapel-Hill Dec. 2-4. Last year’s Freshman of the
Year by the Black College Sports Information Directors Associa
tion, Nisha Watson, will spearhead the Lady Aggies this season.
In the 1994-95 season, the Lady Aggies made their debut in the
NCAA play-offs for their first time ever. The Aggies undoubtedly
will pick up where they left off.

The Bennett College basket
ball team went into Winston-Sa
lem State University on Nov. 30
hoping to gain a win against the
Rams but came up short. The Win-
ston-Salem State Rams finished
Bennett College off with a score of
88-42.
The Belles fought tough and
hard to acquire a win against the
Rams but came up short The Rams
led the game in rebounds and field
goals ending the first half with 47
points and Bennett 20 points,

As the belles went into the sec
ond half they were 2-2 for free
throws and only made 10 of their
34 field goals. They also had a
combination of 41 offensive and
defensive reboimds.
During the second half, the
Rams were 10-15 for free throws
and made half of their 30 field
goals. The Rams had 66 offen
sive and defensive rebounds. One
of the Rams biggest advantages
was their quickness to get things
done.
High scorers for Bennett
were Dain Magodo, senior from
Zimbabwe, and Laticia Jolly,
sophomore from Ohio. Magodo
earned 9 points and Jolly added 14
points.
