The Bennett basketball team
is back and ready to get into the
swing of things. And speaking of
swings....
On Jan. 16 in a hard-nosed
match-up with Methodist College,
point guard Dain Magodo, of Zim
babwe, suffered a severely broken
nose. Magodo and teammate
Amanda Pecchioni, of Louisville,
scrambled for a loose ball and
Pecchioni accidentally elbowed her
in the nose.
Magodo has been unable to
return to play action after undergo
ing extensive reconstructing sur
gery Jan. 23.
Magodo’s comeback is in
definite. But Coach Joyce Spruill
said, “She’s doing fine and the
surgery went very well.”
The senior point guard’s
nifty playmaking and scoring drive
has been missed.
After winning two con
secutive games in the second half
season openers with victories
against Sweetbriar College 66-27
and Mary Baldwin College 64- 38,
the Belles’ streak was ceased after
Methodist College handed them a
convincing 70-52 loss. The Belles
also took a setback when Johnson
Bible College defeated them Jan.
20, 64-47.
The team will play cross-town
rivals, Greensboro College Jan 25.
Magodo has yet to receive the green
light, but will more than likely play
the remainder of the season.
She was unable to comment
at press time.
