Bennett Belles re-establish
bond with Morehouse brothers

Nearly 100 Belles traveled to Atlanta to
participate in the first "Bennett-Morehouse
Weekend,” April 14-16.
The event, held on the campus of
Vlorehouse College, was developed to re-
:stablish the relationship between Bennett
^ollege and her brother institution.
Morehouse College.
On behalf of Bennett, the Belles
presented the "Men of the House"
with a ringable bell for the student
union building. In return, Bennett
was presented with an original oil
painting depicting great African
American Morehouse men.

122nd Commencement

A very busy and important weekend is
in store for at least 65
seniors.
They will be partici
pating in the 122nd com-
mencement exercises at
11 a.m. on May 21, on
the campus Quadrangle.
Eva M. Clayton, of
the First Congressional
District, will be the key
note speaker during the
commencement.
Clayton, the first Afri
can American woman to
represent North Carolina
in Congress, is serving
her second term in Con
gress and is serving as
vice chair of the Demo
cratic Policy Conmiittee on Research.
She serves on the Executive Committee
of the House Rural Caucus and is a mem
ber of the Agricultural Committee and is
ranking when she was elected in Novem
ber 1992.
She was elected presi
dent of tlie Democratic
Freshman Class, Uie first
woman ever to hold the
office.

20 at 7 p.m. the graduat
ing seniors will be in

College National Alum

baccalaureate ceremony
in Annie Menier Pfeiffer
Chapel.
A reception for family,
guests, and graduates will
follow Sunday’s com
mencement.
The reception is at the president ’ s house,
located on Gorrell Street.
Dr. Gloria Randle Scott, in her eightli
year as president, will confer degrees.

tion with Bennett, the city of Greensboro, BB & T, the U. S. Department

ing Finance Agency. The groundbreaking took place March 22.

Jennifer Farris has a lot to say.
As Miss Bennett 1995-96 she has new
ideas and perspectives that she wants to
share with everyone.
“I feel privileged to have this title,” Jen
nifer said.
“I realize that I have people who see
something positive in me and they have
aspirations that I will represent Bennett
College in a distinguished and mannerable
fashion.”
The Atlanta native expects to be busy in
the coming year with new projects and
says that she will have to be familiar with
the concept of strict time management.
"I expect students to
cooperate with me."

‘The most time consuming project will
be the coronation for 1995-96,” she said.
‘This will be in preparation from now
through the summer, and finally through
October. 1 am really going to have to
balance my time, since 1 will be working
with the Olympics in the summer.”
Jennifer is a positive person who wants
to gain new skills in this large task.
“First of all 1 would like a networking
experience for both myself and other stu
dents at Bennett. 1 am positive that it will
be a learning experience that will enable
me to mold my positive characteristics
into dynamic characteristics. 1 will be able
to make a closer bond with the entire
student body and faculty, so that we may
be able to make exceeding progress in the
