'Media Days'
Mass Comm,
Thank you for allowing me
to participate in what is the
beginning of a very exciting
and successful annual event at
Bennett College.
Unfortunately, I was unable
to stay for as long as I was
needed, I sincerely hope that I
provided a realistic and
informational view of what
Bennett students can expect.
"Local Media Days 1997:
Women In the Media" is an
event that is long overdue.
Although I have already
guest thanks
department
graduated [from Bennett], I truly
believe that it is this type of
commitment that enables
students to better understand
where they want to go.
Again, I truly thank you for
your time and consideration. I
look forward to wcffking with
you in the future on any events
that I may be able to lend my
talents.
Sincerely yours,
Bennett alum Karen Home,

Belle who beat
the odds receives
'ideal Award'
Alice Mason gave Bennett
College a reason to be proud
when she received an Ideal
Award from the Bennett
College Metropolitan Washing
ton, D.C. Alumnae Association
during White Breakfast,at the
Washington D. C. Hilton,
Nov. 8.
As Alice accepted the award
she shed tears of joy, but she
was also poised and articulate,
when she told the audience how
she "beat the odds" and
overcame many obstacles.
Alice is only one of her 10
siblings and 30 cousins to finish
high school, and she was told
that she needed to be in special
education.
But she graduated in the top
of her class from Duke Ellington
High School, which has high
academic admission and reten
tion requirements.
During the breakfast. Presi
dent Scott reminded us that more
Capital Campaign funding will
continue to develop other
Bennett students such as Alice
to become phenomenal women
leaders.
