Blanketeers Get Bid to Participate In National Tournament

The 1936 edition of the Chatham Blanketeers, which has received an invitation to enter the national semi-pro tournament in Wichi
ta, Kansas, Au^t 14 to 26 as a representative cf the two Carolina^. Winner of the tournament will receive a huge trophy cup, $5,000 in
cash and a trip to Japan with all expenses paid.

Manager Hoyt Hambright was
officially notified by letter from
Jake Wade, sports editor of the
Charlotte Observer which stated
that since the Chatham Blanke
teers won the Carolinas cham
pionship last year and on their
record thus far this season that
they were the logical choice to
represent the Carolinas in this
year’s event.
The team’s record thus far this
season is 59 games won and 9
, lost, which is an outstanding rec-
1 ord in games won and lost.
The Tournament in Wichita
will be represented by 32 of the
outstanding teams of the United
States. All are state champions
and some champions of two
states.
