Neaves Park Is Invaded Ably Led By Colonel Vere Painter, Raiders Win Smashing Victory FIRE BRIGADE IS ORGANIZED Lee Neaves Is Named Fire Chief at Meeting Held at Clubhouse Last Thursday Announcement was made in the last issue of the Blanketeer of the organization of a Fire Brigade for the protection of Company property and as a safety measure. The member ship is made up of employees from each department and each shift. The first meetings of the companies were held at the club house Thursday, and the follow ing were appointed to their duties : Fire chief, Lee Neaves; assist ants to chief, Thurmond Eldridge, Leff Cothren, Vasco Whatley, Walter Burgiss; chief dispatcher, Hubert Parker; first aid director, Roy Kane; advisory committee, Raymond Harris, J. W. L. Ben son, C. J. Hyslup. COMPANY A Dye House, Power Plant and Dead Head Shift 1—Sam Atkinson, cap tain; Van Dillon, Leslie Carrico, Quinton Spicer, Hub Durham, Guy Hinson, Walter Burgiss, Ev- erette Holbrook and John Wall. Laffoon, cap tain; Tom Edison, Dewey Red- (Continued on Page Eight) On Friday evening, October 11, Colonel Painter and his band of Blanketeers made a blitzkrieg into Mr. Neaves picnic grounds and completely defeated fifteen of the best chickens ever seen in these parts. The enemy was in somewhat of a stew when Paint er’s men came charging in shout ing their battle cry of “Down With, the Enemy.” Down the enemy they did and when the battle was over none of the en emy, save for a few of their bones, could be found. The “spirit” in which the Raiders fought was most com mendable, but it is believed that (Continued on Page Three) NUMBER CLASSES ARE ORGANIZED Approximately 200 Employees En roll for Courses Offered in Cooperation with State Approximately 200 employees of the plant have enrolled in the various classes which are being offered by the company in coop eration with the State Depart ment of Vocational Education. Much interest has been displayed by those attending the classes, and in some classes two and three sections had to be formed to take care of those who desired to enroll. Classes are being held in the new class rooms on the second floor of the Employment build ing, in the shop, and several other places in the plant. The new class rooms are centrally lo cated and will be used in the fu ture for educational work and group meetings. With the exception of the Card Fixing class, which will be or ganized this week, the list of classes with the instructors and members is as follows; Machine Shop Practices (Sec. I) J. F.
