Chatham Blanketeer Vol. 6 NOVEMBER 4, 1940 No. 21 Officials Watch New Construction Left to right, Mr. A. L. Butler, Mr. W. A. Neaves and Mr. R. W. Harris watch the dirt being moved for the construction of the S uring and Carbonizing Plant. The new addition is expected to be completed by January 1st. Construction Progressing On New Plant Construction of the new Scour ing and Carbonizing department is moving along at a rapid pace. This addition will be 54,000 square feet floor space, and will cost ap proximately $150,000. The Scour ing and Carbonizing department will be two stories high, and the wool storage warehouse, three .stories. The building is on the railroad siding and will have a large concrete platform on the east side of the building. The grading consisted of mov ing 30,000 yards of dirt and placing it in the valley above the Spray pond. This will provide ample parking space on the east end of the plant. Mr. D. D. Morgan is superin tendent of the construction, for the Frank L. Blum Contracting Company, of Winston-Salem. Misses Claudia Austin, Ann Lineback and Katherine White- ner attended the State-Furman football game in Raleigh Satur day night. Mrs. Richard G. Chatham, Jr., is spending some time in Florida.
