Boys' and Girls’ Teams Putting in
Hour’s Practice Each After
noon; Have New Uniforms
Every afternoon you will see
the boys’ and girls’ basketball
teams making their way to the
high school gymnasium for an
hour’s practice. There are fifteen
girl", and twelve boys out for
practice.
Beautiful new uniforms have
been ordered and received.
Girls and boys are being coach
ed by Bill Mann, former State
College star. Nig Plaster is being
missed on the court, but he is
backing the teams one hundred
per cent, and helping Bill in
every way that he can.
Prospects look good for the
coming season. Our teams made
good records last year and things
look promising for another good
season.
The girls won the Carolina A.
A. U. tournament in High Point
and were runner-up in the
Southern Textile Tournament in
Greenville, S. C. They were un-

ONLY 4 LOST TIME
ACCIDENTS IN OCT.
For the month of October there
were only four lost time accidents
in the entire plant. Why not
make the plant one hundred per
cent, perfect for November?
The Dye House, Wool Room,
Warp Room and Scouring and
Carbonizing had one lost time
accident each.
There were 320 patients treat
ed in the First Aid department,
and twenty-two sent to the doc
tor.

FIRE GROUP HOLDS
FIRST FIRE DRILL
The first fire drill for the
newly organized fire squadron in
the mill was held Friday morn
ing, Nov. 8th, at ten o’clock. Half
of the first shift drilled. Tom
DeBorde explained all the cut
off? in the east end of the fac
tory and explained the main
ways of fighting fires within the
plant. Plans are to take each
group at separate times and drill
them. Forty men drilled for the
first time.

Stage Annual Get-Tog:ether
for Employers-Employees
Members of the Lucy Hanes
Chatham clubs sponsored the an
nual get-together for employers
and employees at the local gym
nasium Friday night, Nov. 8th.
Guests included husbands,
friends, and employees of the
Company. The gymnasium was
attractively decorated with native
pine and autumn leaves. Large
floor baskets filled with yellow
chrysanthemums were attractive-
1 y arranged throughout the
building. The decorations were
in charge of Miss Katherine
Whitener and Mrs. Noah Darnell.
Mrs. Hope Brown, Miss Lexa
Cummings, and Mrs. Leonard
York greeted the guests. Upon
their arrival the guests were pre
sented fancy paper hats. The
ladies were given noise makers
and the men were given cigars.
Following the supper, which
was served by members of the
home economics classes of the
local high school, under the di
rection of Miss Mary Holland, a
dance was held, with Shirley
Smith’s Orchestra furnishing the
music. The public was invited to
the dance and appi'oximately one
hundred couples attended.

STAGES PARTY
Held on Hallowe’en at Club House
for Members and Their Guests;
Enjoyed by Everyone
A Hallowe’en party was given
at the club house by the T. C. U.
club on October 31 for the mem
bers and their guests. Jack O’
Lanterns, witches, black cats and
the traditional colors of orange
and black blended together to
give the party the true atmos
phere of Hallowe’en. Guests upon
arriving had pinned on their
backs cards bearing the name of
some famous person and by ques
tioning others present they tried
to determine their identity. This
was followed by various games
and contests in which everyone
was given an opportunity to
show their skill in one form or
another. The high light of the
evening was a contest in which
the girls, with the aid of several
beauty preparations, attempted
to improve the looks of their es-
