Page 6 REFINING “B” BALLYHOO Charlie Lee is back with us after an extended vacation OF ABOUT THREE MONTHS. This is about the first time we ever knew of a fellow having to quit work three months in order to fool some girl into marrying him. . . . Bom to Mr. and Mrs, A1 Montville a flour ishing young lady, Lynn Ann, weighing 71/2 pounds. You should have been around when he came back to work. (Smoke I mean plenty of it. Those long barrel cigars that he furnished us,) . . . . J. B. Rogers has been promoted to Williams’ helper on the New Broke Beater. . . . It is also against the rules to curse in our new wash room, for fear our bachelor friend Markley Jones might hear someone and take up the habit himself. , , . Everyone is well pleased with the progress of the new Refining Room. The ar rangements in general are far better. Thanks to our Manage ment. Love don’t seem to live up to his name as he always makes the boys mad at him by wetting them and always want ing to know why they overload his beater. ... Feaster has gone to work at last, and best of all he is hanging up the hose he al ways fell over. . . . Blender Sledge is hard to find some times, so the boys have all learned his habit of pulling his little red mustache and when someone wants him, they start pulling their upper Hd until their message reaches him. . . . We on B Shift would like to know if Seat Galloway is a monkey fleaing himself or a shot hawk trying to remove the lead. PULP DATA The man on Shift “D” in the Pulp Mill are having to work double time lately, trying to keep stock ahead so that the new paper machines can keep going. But even at that they remember Uncle Sam and try to do their part for the de-| fense. In the last month there! has been three new additions in the families. A fine, hearty girl for Mr. and Mrs. C. B, Al-' lison. Another for Mr. and Mrs. John Metcalf—^these to be nurses, of course. And a boy for; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bryson. Hei will serve in Uncle Sam’s Navy* —so says Fred. Emmet Wilson, a member of our shift now serving in the Army, was in for a couple of days’ visit. We were all very glad to see him. Lawrence Tipton got mad with his landlady because he thought she charged him too much for board and went na tive. He and the Mrs. are now dwelling in a cave or rock cliff some where near Lake Sega.
