Printed by Champagne Job Printing Department. TO THE WEAVERS Early in the morning It ain’t so hard to say, “I feel so good and saucy ril work a lot today”. At eight I start the ole machine Let's call it “Lizzie”. I thought it wouldn't be so hard, But my! We both were busy. I had such good intentions. To do so terribly bad But there’s always some excuse, The awful thread I had. And that same one, we like to use When production gets too ruff, “It must have been the warp er’s fault! We didn’t have enuff.” Today when I was working. Guess what happened to me? It seemed I had a hundred belts But only forty-three. Every time I turned around It must a’ took a minute To get the thread all straight ened out And ready to begin it. You know that little paper. That goes from hand to hand. And whether you’ve done good or bad, It shows just where you stand. But listen, girls! Let’s do our best, And make a lot of effort. For when we do a heap o’ work It pleases Mr. Goepfert. —Exie Hollifield. WNEE ONCE I MORE EXPERT SAYS LAZY WIFE MAY COST HUSBAND LIFE Throughout our whole life it is not the actual hardships and misfortunes of our existence which most afflict us. It is our cowardly fears, our causeless depression, our anxiety as to a future of which we know little or nothing. If we could dismiss these base elements of our minds and concentrate our at tention on our actual problems, we should soon solve them, we should deliver ourselves from about nine-tenths of our suffer ing on earth, and the rest should cheerfully endure. —Elwood Worcester. What kind of community would this be if they were all like me? Wives can help the defense program by getting their hus- 3ands breakfasts and being generally sympathetic, a safe- y expert declared today. Home conditions were re sponsible for many industrial accidents that cost the defense program 41,912,000 man days of work last year, W. T. Cam eron, safety advisor to the U. S. Labor Department, told the Ohio State Safety conference. “Sometimes a man got care less because his wife got up too late to give him breakfast,” Cameron said. “Many accidents were caused by lack of sleep, hangovers, intoxication, do mestic quarrels, and financial worries directly due to home conditions. “In times like these there is more money around, more drinking and night clubbing, which in turn leads to a care less an reckless feeling which causes accidents. “It is up to women to be as sympathetic and as good an in fluence on their husbands now as possible.” Cameron said 18,000 per sons were killed and 89,600 permanently injured in indus trial accidents last year, “when the defense program couldn’t afford to lose a single man.” Charles Lamb wrote: “The greatest pleasure I know is to do a good action by stealth and have it found out by accident.” ECUSTA LIBRARY lOFUNCnONSOON . The Recreation Department IS pleased to announce the establishment of an Ecusta Li brary to be housed in the Rec reation Department in the Of fice Building. No rents or fees are connected with our loan plan. Just come in and pick out your choice in reading ma terial, take it home for your own and your families’ reading pleasure and return it to us in twjo weeks. Magazines may be taken out over the noon hour ^ u you decide to spend a half hour or so in our library you will find tables and chairs placed there for your use. Every Ecusta employee is en titled to this service which we hope to open sometime in the next month. But selecting books to satisy your tastes in literature is an other thing. The Recreation De partment isn’t at all certain that its selection will be to your iking so we have taken care of this situation, we hope, to the satisfaction of every employee. Unless someone pops up with a better suggestion, the plans are as follows: Book lists will be posted from time to time and employ ees may indicate their selec tions through checking those particular books they wish pur chased for the library. Should employees desire reading material not posted, such selections must be listed and turned in at the Recreation Onice or dropped in a box which will be placed in the cafeteria for that purpose. If you have books that you would like to donate to the li- brary for use by others at Ecus ta, your generosity will be deep ly appreciated. Although we won’t be ready to place books at your disposal for a few weeks, we do want your selections to form our initial library so get out your 0.
