PAGE FOURTEEN THE ECHO DECEMBEB, 1®^ Employees In Service Pay Us A Visit Troy G. Stanley, S 1-c, assigned to a destroyer escort, is a gunner in the U. S. navy. An employee of the Refining Room, he entered service Sept. 6, 1943, training at Bainbridge, Md., and at Norfolk, Va. He has been in the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the Eng lish channel, stopping at Bizerte, Africa, and somewhere in Eng land. In November he visited Ecusta while on a 9-day leave. Now In Italy Kermit W. Reese, F 2 c, of the amphibious forces of the U. S Navy, visited here Nov. 20th. Pri or to entering service in June, ’44. he was employed in the Refining Room at Ecusta. After boot train ing at Camp Peary, Va., he trained at Camp Bradford, Va., Chicago, lU., and Great Lakes, Ul. He re ported to New Orleans to Join an LST unit. Pvt. Sheoman Ducker of the 5th amphibious corps of the Marines and holder of the Purple Heart and ribbons for the American the atre and Asiatic-Pacific theatres of operations and one star for a ma jor engagement was wounded Feb 1, ’44, in the Marshall islands. He has returned to Ecusta to work. His wife, Christine Ducker, is em ployed by Endless Belt. Ralph Teague, AS, has just com pleted six weeks boot training at Camp Peary, Va. After a visit here, he went to armed guard schop^l and then expected sea du ty. He was employed in the Ma chine Room; in October, ’44, he en tered the Navy. Cpl. Grady Wilkie, of the Army air corps ground crew, visited De cember 9th. Cpl. WilMe was em ployed in the Gumming depart ment of Champagne; he entered service in December, 1941. After basic itraining at Sheppard Field, Tex., he was overseas 27 months, in Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Cuba. He has completed a course in serv icing the B-29 Super Fortress at Fresno, Calif. After a furlough of 22 days he reported to Howard, Nebr. Cpl. Wilkie Was wearing the good conduct ribbon and a ribbon for the American theatre of opera tions. CPL. RAYMOND NICHOL SON is now somewhere in Italy. The picture above was made in Florence, Italy. Cpl. Nicholson has been in the service two years. He trained at Camp Rob inson, Ark., and Ft. Sam Hous ton, Tex. Is Sr. Grade Lt. In Guardi School RALPH J. BROWN, S 2-c, of th^ U. S. Navy is now in Armed Guard school at Norfolk, Va. He trained at Camp Peary, Va. At Ecusta he was employed in the Inspection department. He en tered the Navy in July, 1944. m LT. CHARLES GLAZENER, above, of the U. S. Naval Re serve, has been promioted from lieutenant junior grade, to that of full lieutenant. He was em ployed in the Chemical Labora tory before entering the Navy almost three years ago. He was stationed in New York City, Southport, N. C. and Miami, Fla. Lt. Glazener has been over seas 14 months. His wife, Thel- ina Glazener, is a chemist here. Christmas vacation, visiting ^ folk, Va., and Jacksonville, Woodrow Allen spent last w end in Charlotte. LIEUT (jg) ISAAC WESLEY KEELS, JR., has been reported missing in action since October 12. He had duty on a carrier in the Pacific. He, entered service in February, 1942, and trained at naval stations in Florida, Vir ginia and New Jersey. Lt. Keels was employed by Ecusta as a tester. A letter from his com manding officer appears in this issue of the Echo. Is A Tank Driver Bobby Whiteside, S 2-c, has just completed boot training at Bain bridge, Md. July 29 he entered the Navy. At that time he was em ployed as mail clerk at Ecusta. Seaman Whiteside visited recent ly during his boot leave and re turned to Bainbridge for reassign ment. S. Sgt. Andrew Leon Williams, an instructor in aircraft mechan ics at Wendover, Utah, has served 31 months overseas, in South America, Panama and Galapagos. He was employed at Ecusta. prior to induction in January, 1942. He trained at Keesler Field and Pan ama. December 5th he visited here, accompanied by Pfc. Harry John son, a veteran of overseas service and former Ecusta employee. Well, from all of us you, we wish you a Merry mas and a very happy, New Year. Chem. Lab. T-5 Costanza was em ploye,d at Ecusta in the Finishing department, entering the Army in July, 1943. He trained at Ft. Knox, Ky., and at Ft. Meade, Md. k' h' % Sgt. Frank A. Smith of the 70th division of field artillery, is now stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. He has been in the army 24 months and was employed in Fin ishing Department. He trained at Camp White and Camp Adair, Ore., and Yakima, Wash. He vis ited in November while on a 15- day furlough. Pvt. WiUiam L. “Bill” Hunni- cutt, of the infantry, visited us De cember 7th during a 14-day fur lough, Pvt. Hunnicutt was head clerk in the Pulp Mill prior to in duction June 20th.
