First comes Aunt Divola. Her new niece is Miss Glenda Parton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Par ton. Mrs. Parton is the former Miss Dixie Cogdill. Congratulations, gal. Now that the war is over in Eu rope, four of our gals are in much better spirits. We believe E. Stov er has the highest hope of her ser geant returning soon. Hope none of you are disappointed. We didn’t know Henry could blush—well, maybe he didn’t, but his face sure turned red Friday when asked by a very pretty girl from the office to write the “Chat ter” in Mrs. Cox’s absence. We extend our sympathy to Walter Perkins in the death of his brother, Edgar Perkins, of Ma rion, N. C. He died near Knox ville, Tenn., May 6, of a heart at tack. My! we dp get around. Bessie is taking her vacation, and with her father, Mr. Haskins, is visiting her sister in Knoxville, Tenn. Bessie, the rest of us miss you, and are glad these vacation things come only once a year. Opal and young son, Glenn, spent a recent week-end in and near Atlanta, Ga., visiting her in laws. She reports a very pleasant trip. • Mrs. Cox and Lucile are spend ing the week-end of 18th-20th in Augusta, Ga., visiting Mr. Cox. Marjorie took a recent trip, but we didn’t leam her destination. Rabbit recently spent the week end in Knoxville, Tenn. This de mands explanation. Rabbit. Mr. McCall is the best man among us, for he has been the cause of most of us attending church at one time or another, at the Second Baptist church in Bre vard this week. Well, we could tell you more, for we still have some folks un mentioned, but will endeavor to tell you about them next time. So long. Meet “Special Officer” Mr. Word Who Was Host To Officers BROTHERS UNDER THE SKIN And how about the new recruit that passed an officer without sa luting. “See here, my man,” called the officer. “Do you see this uniform I'm wearing?” "Yes, sir, it’s a swell fit, but }ook at the one they gave me!” Mr. Word was official host to the FBI confercince at the luncheon here, and during the occasion *** officer’s badge was pinned on him. Mrs. Betty Achberger will give a lecture entitled, “Problems of Mothers of 1945.” Next on the program will be Kate Smith Evelyn Nicholson sing ing “Pretty Girl Milking Her Cow.” Tonight we have a visitor from down South America way, Senor- ita Hazel Carmen Owen, who will now honor us by doing her version of the Tango. That famous torch-singer, Thel ma Snyder, will follow with “My Daddy’s Gone and Left Me . . .” For the first time GLnnie Girle alias Rubye Beddingfield and the Sandrews Sisters will appear on the air. The Sandrews sisters are composed of Agnes Ellison, Marie Barton, and Lillie Galloway. Last on the program will be what we have all been waiting for. That famous ventriloquist and his creation Bedgar Ergan and Harlie McCarthy, who are none other than our old friends Professor Wil> liam Hunter and Robert Mitchem.
