On Saturday afternoon, July 14th, a birthday party was given in the Maintenance department for “Uncle” Bill Heaton. “Uncle” Bill has been with Ecus- ta since August, 1940, and is one the best liked employees in the plant. He has just reached his 65th birthday, the age when many peo ple retire and begin to take things ®asy, but not so with “Uncle” Bill he is still vigorous and judging his looks and physical condi tion and from what he has to say, he will be working at Ecusta for •tiany more years to come. Bill Heaton was born in Green- '’ille, S. C., in 1880, attended school at Pelzer and Greenville and took a course with the International Correspondence school. His first job was in a foundry lifting sand. He also worked in Atlanta, Ga., and Pelzer, S. C., and "'.as at Balfour Mills as chief en gineer for 17 years. He is married and has five chil- two daughters and three sons; Mrs. H. F. Hawthorne, of An- •lerson, S. C.; Emma Lou Heaton, Hendersonville; George Benson Heaton, Haskell Heaton, who is employed in the Machine Room and Lt. William “Mac” Heaton, '^ho was a fighter pilot in the fa- *»ous “Zemke” Wolf Pack, biggest scoring outfit in the European the atre. “Mac” was shot down while taking his 70th mission.
