We welcome to the Canteen Gang, Mary Keith, and Josephine Bryson to the Cafeteria bunch,— also Ralph Waldrop, our new cook. We hope their stay will be long and pleasant. It is very nice to have Smitty back, after having lost some time to have her tonsils removed. Bobby seems greatly thrilled, and we think it is because her “Buddy” changed his mind about going to Chicago. More power to you, Bobs! Hal must have gone into the pet business as a side line. He reports a whole family of new kittens! The thing which gives us the idea, is that they are so different from other cats, being minus tails! Hal, you should tell your own gang first, when they are ready for sale. , Gadding around seems to be the order of the day around here. 01- lie spent her five days off visit ing relatives at Fletcher. Helen was an Asheville visitor for the week-end. Bernice spent the Easter holi days in Atlanta,, and Bessie re cently spent a week-end in Pick ens, S. C. Edna has made another trip to Asheville; we are wondering what the results will be. Blake reports a pleasant trip through the Smokies recently. Bill and Divola were also seen on that trip, and Divola says she also saw a good many Ecusta and Brevard folks on the trail. Ethel S. made a trip to Oak Ridge, Tenn., and reports a nice visit with relatives. We are sor ry the weather was so rainy, she couldn’t buy us any souvenirs, but she did make an acquaintance or two which sound discouraging to us. Ethel, do be careful,—your time isn’t up, here, yet. Ethel D. has made two or more trips to Memphis, Tenn. She re ports nice trips, but best of all she brought Ted home with her. No wonder she is so happy these days. Mrs. Cox has mads two trips to Augusta, and has not been lucky enough to get her man out of the hospital yet, and home, though she still hopes to get him home soon. Hal and family made a trip to Sylva the past week-end to see Hal’s new brother. We are not sure he has been named yet. Mr. and Mrs. Kitchen and Hal have made several trips to Glou cester, fishing. They report good catches, ’tho Mr. Kitch tells us how funny it is to see Mrs. Kitch. and Hal take turns sitting down while wading. Hal, Cag and Leroy seem to really have had fisher man’s luck while fishing Little River. Pot Washer says it serves them right for trying to catch poor little fish. A. P. seems blue these days. Snap out of it, pal, and don’t wor ry too much about those Northern girls who don’t like to cook. Ecus ta has plenty of pretty girls who do. Mildred, John and Johnny spent a pleasant week-end visiting rel atives at Cashiers. Elaine spent the past week-end in Greenville, S. C., with her mother. Her mother also visited her last week. Chemical Lab. News By THELMA GLAZENER From the sighs emitted by Pearl Mull there is nothing to compare with a vacation at Daytona Beach, unless its a honeymoon at Day tona. We received a card from Bill and Annie Laura Baley, they’re stopping there for a few days. Edith Ridenhour spent a week end with her sister in Salisbury and from there went to Charlotte for a short stay. The boss is gone again. This time he’s taking a vacation at Myrtle Beach. Lucy Clarke spent the week-end in Lavonia, Ga. We send our con gratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ben R. Dabbs, Jr., (Marie Sprinkle) and are looking forward to seeing Sandra Carol. The Analytical lab has start ed a Broken Hearts Club. Haven’t been advised as to the entrance requirements. Gus and Ted are developing pointed ears—but definitely. Punchy has really been sold on this hotel business. Could it be Autobound News By EULA GRAY Music—music—yes, we are hop ing to have music in our depart ment soon. Gee, but doesn’t John look good with his nice Florida suntan! He reported a real nice vacation in various parts of Florida. If anyone has a book on solving clothes problems, please let Jean borrow it. She is in serious trouble and will appreciate help. Cigars again—L. C. Wilson is the proud father of a 6V2 pound boy. Lester Melvin was born on April 27th. Flossie, why do you and Alma always have an empty bottla in your hand? Maybe we will get a better rating this month in the Clean-Up Campaign. Things sure do look better, so keep picking up, everyone! Lucille and Helen sure are proud of their little white break fast basket. Anyone wanting cof fee, just pay Lucy a visit. ASSULT: Did you bet on her? Myrtle and Marie enjoyed the races very much. All that was wrong with their horse was that it couldn’t run fast enough to win! We were glad to have Helen and Jimmie Dunne visiting us last week. They both looked as though they had been having the best in life. Charlotte B. seems awfully in terested in a certain player on the Asheville baseball team. Keep pitching them in, Charlotte. Flash! Flash! You may think it’s an extra ray of sunshine, but it’s just that sparkler on Kat’s third finger of the left hand. Hazel, what’s cooking on your vacation? Hope you report a nice time while off. Mary Lou, keep working on your plans for your trip to Wash ington, D. C. Keep your eye on Mary and bring her home safe, sound and single. If you think you hear the true comic side of life, it’s just the girls at the stitching machines. They sure have some tall stories to tell. Gladys, what’s this I’ve' been, hearing about your new heart; throb down Hendersonville way? Have you seen the sparkle im Clara Belle’s eye? It must be tha fellow from South Carolina. If you see the Western Special, you had better look again for Evelyn T. and Evelyn S. both are very interested. Boo! Jewel. How are you faring by yourself at night? Do you still have the shotgun in the corner? This is all ’til the June Bug bites. that "glorious” influence in Hen dersonville? “D” shift is so proud of Ned for the home run he made in the softball game. Now its only a mat ter of which scout gets to him first. NOTICE TO ALL DEPT. REPORTERS Deadline For June Issue Is Tuesday, June 18 Please get copy in early, if possible.
