You will see it when you visit the camp for the big annual Fourth of July picnic next Thursday. 40 Youngsters Are Attending Coaching School At Sapphire, To End August I Swimming Lessons To Be Given Free At Camp Sapphire Swimming instructors at Camp Sapphire are now ready to take care of all beginning swimmers. An effort has been made to select hours that will be most helpful to those who desire to become competent swimmers. Starting immediately, the following hours will be reserved for the purpose of teaching swimming to begin ners: Monday Through Friday 11:00 a. m. to 12:00 m. Turn To Page Thirteen Registration Is Required At Camp Employees of Ecusta, Cham pagne and Endless Belt are re quested to register themselves and families, and their guests on each visit to Camp Sapphire. Guests and friends of employ ees are welcome at Camp Sap phire, but must be accompanied by an employee or a member of his or her tamefliat^ fami^. Full Training And Instruc tion In Many Sports Are Being Given The first Sapphire coach ing school is really going over with a bang. During the first two weeks of coaching session, forty youngsters poured in from all di rections to learn more about sports and athletics in general. These same youngsters have not been disappointed in their de sires. They have been a busy group of young men from the word “Go”, and will continue to be busy during the last four weeks of the school. ■ At the present writing, most of the coaching has been concentrating on fundamen tals of baseball and the art of de fense and offense in boxing. Sev eral intrasquad games have been played along with one-round box ing matches between members of the coaching school. Out of this group several have shown their desire to box at the July 4th pic nic. One of the main reasons that the school is and will continue to be such a success is the fact that quite 3 number of our own em- r-Tom To Pa^e Five MANY ACTIVITIES ARE PLANNED FOR BIG ANNUAL EVENT Starts In Morning And Ends That Night. Plant To Shut Down The fifth annual Ecusta picnic will probably be bigger than ever this year since it marks the first Independence Day celebration since the war ended and most of our employees who were in the service have returned and will be with us. Most of the employees of Ecusta, Champagne, and Endless and their families are expected to come to Camp Sapphire next Thursday, July 4th. for a day of fun and relaxation. A full day of activities has been planned including almost every kind of game or contest you can think of. The plant will make its annual shutdown beginning at midnight on Wednesday night, July 3rd and will start up again on Friday morning July 5th. at eight o’clock. As has been the custom each year, the day’s festivities will be gin with a band concert in the morning and will end with a big street dance at night. Free Ice Cream, Popcorn, And Lemonade There will be plenty of ice cream and lemonade free to all and the Cafeteria gang will be on hand to serve it. Also the popcorn machine will be thefe with plenty of free popcorn. Even thoug|i those who take part in the pie-eat ing contests will have all the pie they can eat, everyone is asked to bring his own picnic basket-din- ner, and since the picnic will last from early in the morning until late at night, it is suggested that picnickers bring enough food in th^ir baskets for two meals. Cash Prizes Will Be Given There will be all kinds of con tests for every member of the family and cash prizes will be given to the winners of these con tests.
