Finishing Touches
Shift “A”
V
By LILLIAN ENLOE
Everyone seems to be enjoying
this nice October weather, getting
out their winter clothes and com
plaining about the cold. This seems
^ be the month that most people
^ant to take their vacations.
Cecil and Frances Smith report
a Very nice vacation during which
did quite a bit of traveling.
We lost a lot of our shift to third
this month. Hurry back, folks!
Floyd and Frank are back on our
shift again. Also, we have several
members transferred to our
J^Partment his month. They are:
Smith, Barney, Sisk, Donna
^^th, Velma Lakey, Mildred Mc-
^lure and Clarence Williams. We
'''®lcome them to Finishing.
We are glad to welcome Opal
arkinson back. Sorry to have Dot
“anning out from work due to her
®‘ster’s illness.
Charlotte B. is back after a
"®ek’s vacation.
Merrill, you should have been
oere on Thursday night as you
have seen yourself on the
^^reen as the “air minded grease-
®onkey.”
Ronnie, our advice to you is, buy
shot gun. You will find it much
effective than a pop gun.
. Martha, when you start running
to wild cats in the forest it is
time to drop the hobby of
'*“®cting butterflies,
finishing won three bowling
anies from Champagne last week.
up the good work, girls,
^>^6 proud of you!

Mr. Ledbetter got into a yel
low jackets’ nest last week while
cutting tops, but got away with
only a couple of stings.
Shorty Hargis has completed a
7-year period with Ecusta without
any lost time. Congratulations,
Shorty, that is a very fine record.
Gordon Black spent his days
off this week, farming.
Hamp Scruggs is strutting a
Plymouth sedan now.
I. Wilson built a hog pen the
other day and when he went out
to round up his hog, he refused
to go into the pen; and to think
how critical the housing shortage
is now.
Galloway is sporting a new fly
ing cap.
Harry C. says he is going to
keep the leaves swept off his
walk, so no one will fall when
they come to see him.
Pete Parker has raised some
“Budweiser” plants. Now don’t
tell anybody, because he says
someone might try to beat all
the berries off before they get
ripe.
We wonder if Kolor Bak got
his whistle back; seems that he
had it taken away from him the
other evening when he blew it
at the wrong time.
We never used to be able to
find Grandma’s glasses, but now
adays she leaves them rl^iht where
sbp empties them.

Chatter
By ANNE KITCHEN
Cold weather has about caught
us again. Here’s hoping everyone
is enjoying this beautiful fall
weather.
Hal and Elaine were all smiles
on Monday, seems the reason be
ing that their dance team won first
place at the Hendersonville fair
last week.
Seems as though Helen is mak
ing too many trips to the Cher
okee fair; also Divola and Bill at
tended the fair last week.
Ethel Stover is in the Biltmore
hospital. We miss her very much
and hope she has a speedy recov
ery.
We hear that Mrs. Cox is still in
Augusta with her husband. Here’s
hoping that he will soon get well.
Bessie’s brother and sister-in-
law from Pickens, S. C., visited her
last Sunday.
Bobbie’s friend is home now and
from all reports Bobbie is going
to take flying lessons soon.
Ralph and family were visiting
in Canton on Sunday.
We are sorry to lose Ollie. She
is now working in Endless Belt.
Banther reports a very enjoy
able vacation.
We welcome to our Canteen a
Inspection News
By BUVEE CAPPS
Well, news is still hard to
find, but in digging we have
rounded up some.
There are several new faces in
the Inspection Dept, this month:
Wilson Young, John Price, John
Thomas Ward and John Harrell,
Jr., What I want to know is, how
are we going to tell all these
’’John’s” apart?
D. L. Moore, Gordon and seems
like everybody else have base
ball fever, but we notice some
have it worse than others.
Wonder why Earl didn’t work
Sunday? Don’t try to pull a wed
ding on us, Earl.
Rastus got his vacation fixed
up O.K. after trying to come in
to work.
We miss Bessie, Reba and Sadie
since they have been transferred
to Finishing, but good luck, girls.
Cigars! Cigars! 10c each! But
if anyone wants a cigar free, just
contact Woodfin Gosnell or Er
nest Cagle. They seem to be very
generous. Woodfin is the “proud
papa” of a son, and Ernest of a
daughter.
“Butter” Smith is sporting a
new Chevrolet truck. Wonder how
he rated that?
Claude G. says he can tell any
one who wants to know his na
tionality, if they are interested
enough to ask.
Red says that he will be glad
when meat gets more plentiful so
Rastus won’t have to eat so much
spaghetti.
Almond H. is our new sales
man; if anyone wants any Watkins
products, just see him; at pres
ent he is out of soap and wash
ing powder,' so don’t rush him
too fast.
Glad to have Juanita back af
ter an absence due to the illness
of her mother, who, we are hap
py to say, seems to be much im
proved.
It’s strange that John Price
awakes so early, being accustom
ed to working days. He says it’s
too late to go back to sleep, and
too early to get up. Poor John!
Burless and Spurgeon are in
the high ranking class with Red
"agle. They have rented a steam
heated room in Brevard.
Craig S. came in the other night
looking awfully happy (not
sleepy). When we found out the
details, we learned that he got
married! Well, congratulations,
Craig!
The deadline is here, so if the
cigar smoke doesn’t put out our
eyes, we’ll see you again.
new helper, Tommie Grogan.
We are glad to have Olivia back
as we certainly missed her when
she was gone.
Joe Corbett and Mr. Perkins
have been attending all of the
football games this season. Won
der why?
So long now, we’ll be seeing you
around the corner!
