Enter Tournaments
It’s tournament time in Carolina
and Ecusta’s cagers will be right
in the middle of the scrap for all
of those medals and trophies doled
out at such affairs.
First on the busy tournament
calendar is the Asheville Y. M. C.
A. Gold Medal tournament which
begins Monday, February 24. There
is no girls’ division to this tourna
ment, so the boys will bear Ecu-
Kta’s colors into this event. More
^han 20 teams have entered in this
fast affair which was won last year
by the Hendersonville All-Stars.
Scarcely before the boys will
have time to get a good, deep
breath they will be in the Canton
Y Gold Medal Tournament which
begins March 3 and extends
through March 8, with play in
three divisions. The Ecusta team
will be in the “B” division.
After a lengthy rest, the girls
""'in® back into into action in the
'f^our-State Tournament set for
March 10 in the Asheville City Au
ditorium. Last year our girls went
fo the semi-finals of this meet and
will carry one of the most outstand
ing records in this section into th'’
toumpy. S?rah Avery, ace guard,
c'ained all-toumament honors in
Ipst yesr’s event. The boys are not
entered in this tournament.

If your deductions (that is, con
tributions, taxes, interest, medi
cal expenses exceeding 5 per cent
of wages, etc.) do not amount to
more than 10 per cent of your
1946 earnings, you should use the
W-2 form which was given you re
cently by the Payroll Depart

and is cheaper, providing your
ileductions do not exceed 10 per
cent. Just fill in the information
requested on the back of the

of Internal Revenue, Greensboro,
N. C. Keep your duplicate for
possible future reference. You

sends you a statement that you
owe additional tax, or will send
you a refund check representing
overpayment.
The 1040 Form, commonly call
ed the “long form”, is somewhat
more complicated. If you desire
