THE PICTURES
When a photographer needs
some pictures to portray an event,
a certain month, or some occa
sion, he needs only to turn to the
children for an answer to his prob
lem. They’re always ready to co
operate . . . and the fact that
they’re very photogenic and so un
aware of the camera’s presence
helps no end.
Aaron Masters (at left) is
the student showing how disap
pointed and disgusted a boy can
be with a report card that he’s
dreading to take home. His act is
merely for the camera for he’s real
ly a good student. Dick Landeck
took this excellent picture.
Below, five months old Donald
Terry Metcafe, sits unafraid in a
spooky Halloween setting, seem
ingly unware of the ghosts and
witches which may have been
haunting the area. Donald’s father,
Carroll, is in the Pulp Mill and
Mrs. Metcalfe is the former Sue
McCall of Control.
The future All-American being
brought to earth by a playmate
is Stanley Scruggs, athletically-
built youngster of Mr. and Mrs.
Hampton Scruggs. Mr. Scruggs is
in Maintenance.

According to an Associated Press
Spirit Of October: Report Cards, Halloween And Football
Along with the flaming transformation of the
'•■ees, October brought with it many significant
*'^ents—especially for the children. Many
re
ceived their report cards—and that may have
been either good or bad news. Halloween is quite
an euxperience, and there’s always football.
FOOD-SAVING PUN
GETS COOPERATION
OF OUR CAFETERIA
Meatless Tuesdays And
Poultry less Thursdays
Being Observed
Our cafeteria is cooperating with
the suggestions offered by Charles
D. Luckman, chairman of the citi
zens food committee.
Menus at the cafeteria on Tues
days have been planned in accord
ance with the government’s re
quest for meatless Tuesdays while
poultryless Thursdays are being
observed. The drive is voluntary,
but the nationwide response has
been encouraging.
We know that all Ecustans can
be counted on to cooperate with
the food-saving drive in their
homes. The campaign is designed
to provide food for the hungry and
starving people of Europe.
If the splendid displays at the
Harvest Festival in September
are an indication, employees of
our companies have ample sup
plies of foods to enable them to
make a real contribution to the
food conservation program.
dispatch from Lafayette, Bud’s sis
ter, Mrs, Vinton Soden of Los An
geles, was en route to Chicago
where Mrs. Taylor was meeting the
plane. It was reported here that
Mrs. Soden was a buyer for a
large store in Los Angeles and
AVas making her last buying trip,
before resigning November 1.
All 52 persons aboard the plane
were killed.
The wreck was attributed to a
fire which broke out in the bag
gage compartment of the Los An-
geles-to-New York plane.
