Mr. Word Receives Congratulations {This poem was written by Mrs. Harry H. Straus in tribute to Mr. Word on the 23th anni versary of his association with Mr. Straus.) • TO NELSON WORD The golden threads soon will be coming too, Now that your silver day has come to you. We like that glow, may it shine (on) Not only now but for all time. The beginning’s simple, then the colossal job In memories the evolution of That you, Nelson, helped to plan For the happy ending to a man. Each year has been the piling up Of problems, worries and such; But with Harry and his optimism The days rolled on in happy rhythm— Ecusta started in leaps and bounds. Your head oft-times went round and round Until you scarcely could believe What finally was achieved. Now your 25 th anniversary, a day to remember, Just this day, the 10th of September. We pledge anew our friendship sincere That’s why we celebrate in White Sulphur here. And we toast those too, with pride, Who always worked squarely at your side. You're a fine figger of a man, maybe some girth, It wouldn’t be fun if we didn’t have mirth. Your association with Harry, nary a dissension; If so, it really does not bear mention. What a heritage to leave to those you adore Who can only admire you, why ask for more. —M. W. S. (Telegrams by the dozens came to Mr. Word. Excerpts from some of them are printed here since it was an impossibility to publish all of them.) "Felicitations and all fond wishes on the day and for the years ahead.” "May you continue this association for many years in good health and happiness.” "Best wishes of all your many friends and asso ciates.” "Your twenty-five year record of continuous service speaks approval of your ability and leadership.” "We consider it a privilege to have worked with you for a period of that time and look forward to many more years association with you at Ecusta.” "You have made a splendid record during these years and deserve all the admiration and respect that your friends feel for you.” "We extend to you our congratulations on the 25th anniversary of a wonderful working team.” "It should be gratifying to view Ecusta today as a measure of the success of 25 years of team work in which your contribution has been so important.” "Greetings on your quarter century with Ecus ta. I feel that your efficient hand has helped greatly in guiding it to its present success.” "Though for 25 years you have advised And often asked who dash dash authorized Hasn’t it really been loads of fun Even when our Chief had us all on the run? Good health to you like you’re uster And continue to serve dear Ecusta.” And A Birthday, Too! Along with observing his 25th anniversary with our company, Mr. Word also observed another significant day during the month his birthday. This occasion came on September 16 and the best wishes of all Ecustans is “xtended to him on this occasion and our sincerest hope that you will en- ioy many more such happy events, Mr. Word! 3
