FREEDOM IS EVERY BODY S JOB . .. The arrival of the Freedom Train October 5 in Asheville was a big event, with nearly 10,000 people attending the ceremonies. The trim looking train, with a guard of 30 crack Marines, carried 128 precious documents marking the milestone of our nation’s struggle for freedom. Included in the documents was the first rough draft of the Declaration of Independence, the original manu script of the "Star-Spangled Banner’’^ and many other similar items. The various organizations in Asheville did a wonderful job in promoting the appearance of the Freedom Train and this promo tion accounted for the success of the ap pearance. The Ecusta band was one of the five bands on hand for the big event. The band is shown below, with the Freedom Train in the background.
