OUR DEPARTMENTS
INSPECTION NEWS
By Kenneth McDaris
If you hear an Inspector say "that long”, and
see him measure up to his elbow, he is taking
about fish, especially the one that got away. When
the season opened, some lucky fishermen soon
caught their limit, but some, like your reporter,
had to be satisfied with less. Among those catch
ing their limit are Ned Medford, Robert Jennings,
Vick Sigmon, and Ralph Brown. Tom Bryson is
the champion so far—he’s caught his limit twice.
Charlie Cox and some of his friends had good
luck fishing in Watt Bar Lake, near Crossville
Tennessee—Charlie caught a 25 inch catfish.
Charlie and party stayed at Pine Ridge Fishing
Camp. Howard Wilkie caught a 16 inch brown
trout in White Water River, and Karl Wright
caught a 17V2 inch rainbow trout in the French
Broad River.
Marshall Gillespie and some friends caught
eight large carp in the French Broad River, four
of them weighed 86 pounds—a pity they weren’t
edible fish. Others who have been fishing lately
and had a fair amount of success are Joe King,
Ray Byrd, Melvin Atkinson, Richard and Jim
Sheppard, Lawrence Whitmire, Mr. and Mrs. Or
ville Long, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lothery.
Jim McCormick, Russell Mason, and Roy Head
have been on the sick list. Kenny, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Redmond, is home from the hos
pital where he was treated for a throat infection.
Robert Jenning’s son, Billie, fell on a piece of
broken glass and had to have seven stitches taken
in his hand. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Randolph’s child
ren, June and Jackie, have just recovered from the
measels.
Charles Hamilton and Richard Sheppard are
the latest additions to our ball team.
Mr. and Mrs. Frantz Bishop are almost ready
to move into their new home on Carolina Avenue
in Brevard.
Doyle Wells served on the Federal Jury in
Asheville this month.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hollis and children spent
their vacation in Miami, Fla., and Thurman King
and family recently visited in Atlanta, Ga.
We were glad to have James H. Keener visit
us this month. He is a former Inspector, but is
now in the Army. He told your reporter that he
would like to have letters from some of us. For
those who would like to write to James, his ad
dress is: A. F. 14326777 Pipeline, 375 Ist-Trg.
Sqdn., Sheppard A. F. B., Wichita Falls, Texas.

big job. She teaches a class of Intermediate girls
in Sunday School, and is also leader of an Inter
mediate B. T. U. at Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
Robert Jennings is already preparing to rabbit
hunt next fall—he recently bought a pair of
Beagle hounds.
