The counting of noses in Transylvania County is over, but the final tabulation has not been made. It is anticipated that the county will have an in crease of approximately 25% over the 1940 count, which will be one of the largest, if not the largest, in Western North Carolina. Mrs. Mary Wallin, wife of Fred Wallin of Refining, is shown above counting the Byrds. At so much per person counted, we imagine that this was a very profitable call. Seated 1. to r.; Johnny, 6 years old; David, 4; Ruby. 7; Mrs. Byrd; Ray (Inspection Department); and Mrs. Wallin. Standing, 1 to r.: Margaret, 9; Mary Katherine, 17; Donald, 15; Betty Jo, 13; and Harry Lee, 11. William who is 19 years old, was not at home when the photograph was taken.
