SOUTHERN BELLE
Nancy Clarke, 18 year old daughter of Harry
Clarke of the Maintenance Department, has re
cently gained national recognition. A photograph
of Nancy, reproduced in color, appeared in
"This Week” on Sunday, April 23rd. This pub
lication is printed in magazine form and is in
cluded in most of the leading newspapers in the
United States. The caption under the photograph
was: "Southern Belle Nancy Clarke was photo
graphed by Lawrence Willinger in her home
town of Brevard, N. C., in the Blue Ridge Moun
tains. She’s 18, blond and has a thick
accent. A straight-A student in high school, Nancy
is an expert archer and swimmer, too.”
During her four years at Brevard High, Nancy
has better than a 96 average. She has been a mem
ber of the Beta Club, an honorary scholastic
society, and this year is Salutatorian of the Senior
Class. She is office assistant in the Principal’s of
fice, a member of the Dramatic Club, and Asst.
