INSPECTION AND CONTROL By Raleigh Waldrop With Spring here, several are remodeling or building new homes. Hubert Batson has been busy refinishing and painting his home on the Green ville highway. Doyle Wells has bought a new home on Park View Drive—says he hopes to move during his five days off. Progress is being made on Earl Hall’s new home. He expects^ to move in within the next month. Howard Lawing has built in the Boylston community. He is mov ing while on vacation. Helen Fullbright and fami ly are building on Turnpike in Brevard. Just ask Helen about their new home if you want to see her eyes light up! Tom McCall is making im provements on his place located in the Cherry- field community. Election drawing near and Gordon Whitmire has announced himself, at least his friends say so, for Constable of Catheys Creek Township. Good luck, Gordon. Control wins the first game of the season! ! They played the "Generals” with a win of 9-4. Dexter Galloway has returned to work after being out for the past few weeks. Dexter, we are glad to have you back. Ralph Waldrop’s son, Loy, is having a nice case of the measles. Frank Fowler has been away from work a few days due to an infected ear. Jim Mc Cormick was out the week of April 23 due to illness. We extend our sympathy to Thurman King on the loss of his father on April l6th. Also to "Cindy” Brown on the loss of her grandfather on April 23. We are all watching George Love’s garden. George has a choice spot just across from the gatehouse. Evidently George wanted a good spot where he could show his friends what a good gardener he is. Odell Gray says his "stump puller” is missing but he has a pretty good idea where it is. Everyone is watching the progress being made on the new cellophane plant. Seems with the equipment the construction company keeps mov ing in with which to work, the plant will be finished in due time. Those enjoying vacations this month are Frank Fowler, Clarence Glover, Howard Lawing, Victor Sigmon, James Middleton, Herschel Galloway, Odell Gray, Russell Mason, Preston McCrary, Coleman Scott, James Clay, Monroe McCall, Charles Orr, D. L. Thorne, William Whitmire, Cecil Morrison, Evin Nicholson, Rufus Odell, Leon Scruggs, Myrtle Pruitt, Charlie Cox and Al mond Hall. CHEM LAB NEWS By Thelma Glazener Ricie Robinson spent a weekend in Augusta, Georgia visiting a friend who is stationed at Oliver General Hospital. Bill Hunter took a fast trip to Bristol, Virginia to broadcast with the Quartet over Station WOPI and to make appearances in four churches. During the month of May, Lucy Clarke visited in Monk’s Corner, South Carolina and in An derson several times. (Blood pressure again, Lucy?) The lab is happy that Harvey Sigmon is steadi ly improving from his bike accident. It’s proud we are of John Emory’s 180 in WNC League bowling. John and his wife visited in Anderson, South Carolina and went on to Hartwell, Georgia to a dance the weekend of May 12th. Paul Kellar has been busy giving the homestead a coat of paint. Dot Johnson has made several trips to Pisgah Forest for hikes and pic nics. Raymond Nicholson’s uncle has been ill in St. Joseph’s Hospital. We send our best wishes for a fast get well. Some of you might be interested; Saw Alice Porter Brackett the other day. She looks wonder ful and has two boys. She and Bill live just outside of Asheville. This beautiful house is the result of the labor of Harry Lee Hogsed. Harry Lee did most of the work when he was not at his job in the Inspec tion Department. His home can be seen from the highway near Rockbrook on the Greenville high way. 28
