On Sunday afternoon, May 28th at 2:00 P. M. employees, their families
and friends will gather at the memorial area at Camp Sapphire to honor
those of our employees who gave their lives in World War II.
Harry H. Straus, Jr. will speak and several of our employees, repre
senting the various branches of the Armed Forces, will compose a guard of
honor. Music for the occasion will be furnished by the Ecusta Band.
When we attend this Memorial Service all of us will undoubtedly feel
a deep sense of debt to our fellow workers who gave their lives for America.
They fought and died because they believed in America and its concepts of
human liberty . . . Freedom, Equality, Justice, Tolerance.
As these men faced the dangers and hardships of battle, they must have
received inspiration and courage from the noble history of our great country.
"One Nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all . . . Land of the
Free and Home of the Brave . . . inalienable rights of life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness.”
The beautiful monument we have dedicated in their honor is a con
stant reminder of the duty of everyone to keep America safe, strong and
free. We cannot compensate for their sacrifice but we can strive with earnest
ness and sincerity in our everday lives to uphold the true American tradi
tion of freedom for which this group of our fellow workers gave their
lives.
