CLEANLINESS CLIPS
WASHING ONLY SAFE WAY TO CLEAN
YOUR ELECTRIC BLANKET
Electric blankets are made with wiring wrapped
in water-proof plastic coating. Because cleaning
fluids can injure the insulation, it’s important to
wash electric blankets. Squeeze the blanket for
three minutes in lukewarm soapsuds. Rinse and
press out water with hands. Hang over two par
allel lines to dry, stretching edges straight. Never
fold an electric blanket nor put it through a
wringer or tumbler-type drier.
Don’t break your feet when breaking in a new
pair of shoes. To cure stiff shoe heels, rub dry
soap into the lining and "work” the back of each
heel with your hands until it limbers up.
Halloween and soap go together. When the
children come around to scrawl on your windows,
hand them the soap and say; "Go ahead!” Next
day, take a wet cloth or sponge and wash the win
dows with the soapsuds. The children will have a
wonderful Halloween and you’ll have sparkling
windows.
Clos-et space-saver: a hanger with washable
plastic quilted pockets on both sides for holding
shoes, handbags, slippers.
Curio collectors who pick up old wooden stat
uettes or other odd items of wood should know
that soap and water scrubbing is the best way to
restore unpainted wood to a imiform color. Allow
to dry slowly in a shady, airy place. This advice
comes from an art dealer.
Rub dry soap under the foot of your sewing
machine, to keep plastic material moving smoothly
iind easily during stitching.
Lintless dust cloths are made, not born. Soak the
cloth in hot soapsuds with a few drops of turpen
tine for several hours. Wring out and let dry.
These dustcloths will now hold dust and give
furniture a brilliant polish. Repeat every two
weeks.
Useful household equipment: an aluminum
sleeve board padded on both sides for pressing
blouses, ruffels, sleeves, and plackets. The cover
ing comes off for easy laundering.

A Southern mother took her small daughter up
North with her last winter. The child, having
never seen snow before, aroused her mother early
one morning, exclaimed: "Wake up, mother,
there is grits everywhere outside!”
