R. L, where he has been vacationing.
Pete Bennett has a new hobby, he states "that
collecting stamps is essentially the most demo
cratic of all hobbies.” Jim Bayne is wondering
if he can sell his stamp collection for $50.00.
Charlie Porter just can’t understand the parking
regulations, he is now having trouble with park
ing his car.
Mr. Orr has been on a business trip in Wash
ington, D. C.
We all certainly will miss Mr. R. S. Heller dur
ing his leave of absence.
Ted Deacon has an Eisenhower automobile—
he calls it that because he never knows whether
it will run.
Everyone is glad to hear that Mrs. E. L. Lynn
has recovered from her serious illness.
We suggest a "rotation plan” for Lita Steppe
and Ruth Harden to solve their second cup of
coffee problem.

FIRST CHRISTMAS CELEBRATED
HERE IN 1492
Few realize it but the first Christmas on this
continent was celebrated by Columbus and his
men on the good ship, Santa Maria, in 1492. Dur
ing the Christmas season Columbus and his men
worked long and hard to free the Santa Maria
which was beached on Christmas Eve. Later, when
it was found impossible, much of her equipment
was transferred to the Nina and several of the
crew were left in a fort to be rescued at a later
date.

Sara A. McCall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. T.
McCall of Hendersonville, was mamed to John
C. Meadows, Jr., son of John C. Meadows and the
late Sadie Britt Meadows of Hendersonville. Mr.
Meadows is in the U. S. Navy. The couple luere
married in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church
of Hendersonville, Sunday December 16, 1951
by the Rev. J. W. Cross.

Congratulations to Monroe McCall. Monrce is
the proud father of a big boy, born November
28, 1951. Monroe is also lucky in other depart
ments. He got a nice buck the 26th on the Gov
ernment hunt.
Sorry to hear that Mrs. Ace Sikkema is in the
hospital. Hope she is feeling fine by now.
Lewis McCrary is sure going to take good care
of his new convertible. I saw him up town buy
ing all the car polish and waxing clothes he could
find.
Last month we heard that Buck was chasing
squirrels around his house, but the squirrels are
chasing him now. If you want to hear a good
squirrel tale just ask Buck.
