OFFICE BITS
By Alex Duris
Several weeks ago, Ecusta
employees received a brochure
picturing and explaining the
many ramifications of the
Olin Industries. Frankly, to
me, having been associated
with Ecusta it was a bit diffi
cult to associate myself with
the far flung industrial organization which Olin
Industries has become. It was sort of like going to
a family reunion for the first time, where one
meets all sorts of relatives and wonders about their
backgrounds, what sort of folks they may be and
so on. I suppose I was not alone in experiencing
this feeling. Anyway, it was nice getting acquaint
ed with the other members of the OHn Family.
Marie McGuire, the cheerful young lady who
works in the accounting department stenographic
group, has changed her name to Marie Watson.
Congratulations to you and Mr. Watson! Marie
spent her honeymoon at Fontana Village, and is
now making her home on the Boyleston Road.
"Catfish” is the new name that Norman Pon
der has acquired. Ask him to explain!
Lloyd Tuck and family enjoyed a restful vaca
tion at Isle of Palms Beach, near Charleston, South
Carolina.
Tom Smith is glad to get back after his recent
vacation. He spent his vacation washing all the
windows of his new home in Asheville. Mrs. Smith
knew a good thing when she saw it, and got Tom
to wax and polish all the floors too!
Howard Schmidt gave a more than perceptable
jump when he lit his cigar recently. The match
gave a loud bang as it was struck!
Esther Crawford had a short vacation early in
September. Part of it was spent in getting her
daughter ready for the new school year.
Bill Milner and family enjoyed a vacation at
Myrtle Beach, S. C. However, the joys of the va
cation were short lived as Bill acquired a more than
common sun burn. Take four or five weeks next
year Bill, so that you can break your sun tan in
gradually.
Carl Stevens.visited Black Mountain for part of
his vacation. The rest of his vacation he spent in
Brevard fixing up the homestead for the coming
winter months.
Bob Maney spent most of his vacation in and
around Hendersonville taking a number of sight
seeing trips with friends.
Norman Ponder and family spent their vacation
in New York City. Norman has been going up to
New York so much that one of these days he might
become a confirmed Manhattenite!
Charles and Mary Glass took a cross country
trip to Seattle, where they visited with their daugh
ter and family.
Miss Cecile Marie McGtiinn of Brevard and Mr.
Bedford Watson of Pisgah Forest were married
August 22, 1932 in the Turkey Creek Baptist
Church. Mrs. Watson is employed in the Main
Office and Mr. Watson in Cellophane Finishing,
They are now residing at Route 2, Pisgah Forest.
That part of a man’s service which does you
the most good is the part which is not written
into the contract.
This smiling young lady is Susan Dianne Green,
five-year old daughter of Air. and Mrs. Herbert
Green of Brevard. Susan’s mother is employed
in the Main Office and her father is employed in
Cellophane Maintenance.
