DEPARTMENTAL NEWS Mr. and Airs. Paul Owen were married in the Oak Grove Baptist Church on October 2, with Rev. Gene Henson officiating. Mrs. Owen is the former Miss Dorris Reid. She is employed in the Film Division Planning Office. POLYETHYLENE By J. H McCall We wish to welcome the new men in our new department at Ecusta. Don Stoneback, our Super intendent (that fellow that works all the shifts) has been with us several weeks. Walter Sorokoff, Carl Hansen, Leroy Shultz, and Francis Flynn are our foreman and George Tesnow is the relief foreman. Bobby Reid came over from Slitting, Vance Davis transferred from Chemical, Derieux Thom as from Wrap and Pack, Ray Holcomb from Con trol, Dallas Ball from Slitting, Harvy Scruggs from Chemical, Joe Heatherly from Coating, Roy Coop er from Chemical, and Coy Corn from Coating. Our new lab men are Howard Tiger, John Parker, and Leo Aiken. We are starting out with high hopes, and con trary to Riley in the "Life of Riley,” we think this is a most interesting development. The fellows from "Poly” wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. More and more of our countrymen are finding peace of soul and mind in worship in churches of their choice. Recent figures show that 59 per cent of our population now is affiliated with a church. Sales of religious books were three times that of all other books in 1953; religious films are strong at box offices. SHIFT FINISHING FILM DIVISION By Jim Schrieber Dear Santa: Just got word that a Christmas issue of The Echo would be sent to the North Pole, so instead of making you read a lot of letters, "A” Shift just decided to tell you what they wanted for Christmas in this article. Calvin Greer—Santa, Greer wants you to bring Hendersonville a victory over Brevard in footbaU. Fred Teague—all he wants is to be off Christ mas Eve ,(sigh). Earl Birchfield—^Earl doesn’t seem to need a thing so just give his baby boy a nice Christmas. Pete Ek)ckens—-a pint of that good North Pole snow cream if you can spare it.
