DICKERING WITH DOC
A scrappy fighting Lee Edwards
eleven went after the Red Raiders of
Greenville in determined fashion on
Armistice Day. Asheville fans saw a
hard-hitting, smooth running team take
the field and come out on the long end
of the score. The local team played
the best they have this year, and they
had full cause since the Greenville
squad was tough. Credit must be
given the losers, for in spite of bad
breaks, they put up a battle that made
che local boys fight to keep their end
up. With this win under their belts,
the Red Devils strode over a weaker
Mars Hill team and skidded to an easy
finish when they stamped out the lads
from High Point in the Thanksgiving
classic. It is rumored that we will see
the Asheville team once more this year
in a post season game with a yet un
named opponent.
Although Alabama won their tilt
with Vandy last Thursday, it seems we
may have been mistaken when we
chose them for the Rose Bowl game.
It would be more likely, we think, for
them to accept the Sugar Bowl tourna
ment and leave the former for Pitc.
The- more interesting engagement
should develope if the other probability
for the Sugar Bowl, Fordham, should
meet Alabama there, and leave the
strong Pitt squad to battle it out with
California in Pasadena.

BASKETBALL
Biltmore is coming up with a fine
basketball team, if appearances mean
anything. The boys have been prac
ticing unofficially for some time and
are raring to go places when official
practice begins this week. We are look
ing to Tom Reynolds, an able man
from the last year five, to help carry
the team to great heights. The Bilt
more students have pledged themselves
to back the team and help put over a
ripsnorting successful season. LET’S
GO, BULLDOGS!
GOLF
Asheville golfers and golf fans wit
nessed a great match at the Municipal
Golf Course, Tuesday, two weeks ago.
Lawson Little and Horton Smith
licked “Lighthorse Harry” Cooper and
Jimmy Thompson 3 and 2. Little
posted a par 7 1 while Smith and Coop
er carded 74’s and Thompson tailed
with a 75. This was one of the best
.foursomes ever to play in this part of
the country.
Cal Culate is drooping a weary head
these days since he made such a fizzle
at guessing football scores; but he
talked the boss into letting him cover
the basketball games and he will be
with us again when the season opens.
His only statement for the press at this
time is:
"LET ’ER RIP BULLDOGS”.

WILLIAMS RESIGNS AS
CLUB PRESIDENT
Much conjecture has been aroused by
the resignation of Miss Nina Williams
from the presidency of the Eeta Bita Pi
Club, which she organized earlier in
the year. Miss Harriet Allen, vice-
president, succeeds her as president.
In a recent interview with the resign
ing president. Miss Williams said,
“Please don’t misunderstand my resig
nation. Several people seem to have
the idea that it was due to some mis
understanding between a member, or
members, of the club and myself. That
is not true. I have had their support
and cooperation since the club was first
organized. My real reason for resign
ing is that I lack the time to devote to
the office. If ever I can help the club
in any way, I am ready and willing to
do so.”
