The radio departmont at A-BC has begun a new series of radio ahows over "WNCA. The new programs are musical varie ty prodU'Ctions featuring the m’UBic of The Skylyners, and scripts by the ^sroadcastinff students. The entire thirty minute pro duction, "The College Playhouse” la tinder the direction of the Ra dio students. Scripts follow the pattern of regular network pro- •^ams and Include original come dy scripts, written by members of the classes. This week’s program shows stu- dient life at the University of Bulla Buiia on th« Isle of San Bull LaBull, where both tho cli mate and students are balmy. During the latter half of the broadcast, a dramatic comedy “Away From It All” was given, featuring Jean Kennedy. Gus Coutlakis, Eugene Waldrop, Bill Norton and Helen Dickerson. In strumental numbers, and musical bridges were arranged and played by the Skylyners. The first meeting was held No vember 19 at the home of Mr. Wooten, faculty advisor. Thirteen members and g(ueste were present. “The Weepers” was chosen as a name for the new club. Smiley Courtney who is ed itor of the school paper was A fighting mad and underdog A-BC eleven camc roaring back in the final quarter of Saturday’s game to diown a powerful Hiwas- see team tliat previously hadn’t tasted defeat in junior college circles. A tense crowd of 2,500 viewed one of the best games ever to be played on the local gridiron; the outcome not being certain un til the final whistle. A thrill packed game from start to finish, it saw the Red and White come from behind three times, and the lead change no less than four times. Two touch downs late in the fourth period put the game on ice. Lan-y Car ter took Bill Shepard’s kick on the ten, following Hiwassee’s last tally of the evening, and returned it to the thirty-seven. Alger Rain water, flashy wingback, picked up a first down to the 49 on a re verse. From tliere. Jack Mitchell dropped back to his own 42 and fired a long aerial to Dictk White, a sleeper on the play, who caught it On the dead run and slipped over for the score. Bob Vines, standout at guard', gave the Bull dogs the deciding point of the gramo with a beautiful placement. Dick White set up the final score of the evening when he Inter cepted a Moses to Shepard pass on the Hiwaissoe 20 and was final ly downed on the two yard line.
