PRESIDENT'S
CHRISTMAS
GREETING
To all of the Aslieville-r.iUniore
College family and to all friends
of the college, I extend greetings
on the occasion of another Yule-
tide season.
This is a time for joy and glad
ness, for song and prayer, for
feasting and fellowship, for giv
ing and receiving. Let us not,
however, fail to remember the
true significance of Christmas.
With humility, let us return
thanks to Him whose teachings
and sacrifices have bestowed upon
118 manifold blessings. Let us
carry those teachings into every
day practice and find self-satisfac
tion in rendering service to others
lay striving to better the welfare
of our family, neighbors, school,
communitj"', nation, and all man
kind. He who w'ould be happy
will render service unto others.
In this age of materialism and of
striving for material wealth, it is
sometimes difficult for individ
uals to recognize that the ultimate
in happiness is attained by em
bracing this unselfish conception
of service.
As we look forward to the be
ginning of a new year, I am sure
all of us do so with the fervent
hope that the year 1949 will wit
ness the dream of “Peace on
Earth, Oood Will Toward Men.”
May God in his Infinite Wisdom
guide the leaders of all mankind
throughout the world toward the
attainment of this goal. For the
college and for most of us as in
dividuals, 1948 has been a good
year. May. the year 1949 bring
even greater rew'ards. As we re
turn from our vacations, refreshed
in body, mindv and spirit, can we
not dedicate ourselves to. the task
of bringing a tinge of realism to
the motto,. “We’re Climbing High
er?”
Coliege Holds

the Skyliners. Plans were mad©
by the social committee of the
college.
Invitations have been sent to
two members of the student bod
ies of each high school in Ashe
ville and Buncombe county.
It is my hope’ that each and
every one of you will have a very
Merry Christmas and a most Hap
py and Prosperous New Year.
Sincerely,

There was much laughing around
the tree as each child received his
gift.. After all the gifts bad been

Student Council, and funds were
