EDITORIALS Another year, another spring, just routine. But is it routine? With every spring comes time for commencement. Time for a group of people to be given a reward for efforts of the past two years. To some it will be justly earned, to others only moderately so, but to all it will be the time of “beginning again.” It seems such a short time since we were on a high school platform and heard men tell us that we were embarking on a new life, that we had come to the time of turning our ship from its home port to begin its journey. Whether or not it is properly navigated and properly steered is up to us. No one can steer our ship for us now, we must go alone. And yet, we can’t go alone. No one can go through life doing his daily deeds, good or bad, without in some way affecting others. Our ship must have a crew, it must have a course or even the crew can’t help. There are many courses, many crews. Sometimes we are allowed to turn back, but mostly we must prepare our ship for the storm before we leave port. To some this will be only two or four or more years of college, to others the time has come to sail. The sailing can’t always be smooth, but with this goes the hope that the course is so well set and the ship so well built that not even the most heavy storm can make you turn back. Remember The Keeper in The Light House. He is there in storm and fair weather. The best to each and every person who will be called a graduate. Especially a those who have tarried in these ivy covered buildings. May these days have been only the beginning of happy and richly blessed years for one and all. VOLLEY BALL LEAGUE BEGINS PLAY ON COLLEGE COURTS The Mountaineers outknocked the Scientists 21-14 and the Blues downed a tall and fast Punchy Six 21-6 Friday afternoon as play began in the Ashe- ville-Biltmore intermural volley ball circuit. According to Chief Lambert, league games will be run off each Monday and Friday mornings at 10 A. M. Four teams, whose rosters lists a bevy of this city’s most talented volleymen, are entered in the local competition.
