Applause burst forth today as Toby
Eriirin announced that the long-avraitcd
1961 Summit had finally arrived and Tjould
be distributed to the students after
assembly*
This ycar*s Summit is lovingly
dedicated to the memory of ”The College
in the Sky”—to her buildings, grounds,
and campus which we shall long remember.
It contains photographs of scencs which
relate the history of Seeley Castle from
the time construction began until its
completion, and many on-the-spot-while
yoii-wcren* t-looking photographs of
students during those unforgetablc
moments around campus* It is “one last
long look" at the college in a castle.
The Summit is a beautifUl tribute to
those activities, studies, and honors
that have been shared and cherished by
the students who have passed through the
gates of our college. In years to come
it will unlock memories of days spent
in seeking truth and knowledge.
Under the direction and guidance of
Miss i'feiry Miller, this year*s annual

AL-PHYLL-MICK TRIO T^IN STUDENT ELECTION
After a fast and furious last-day
campaign, including a ten-car morning
motorcade and a five hour ’’marathon"
radio show, the final count gave "Al"
V/ight a victory over John Rinehardt for
next yearns President of the Student
Body. Phyllis Hampton was elected Vice-
president, and Mickey Schandlcr, Sec
retary- Treasurer.
Although any such campaign is naturally
a "light-hearted"and sensational affair,
we are sure that I*Ir. Wight takes his new
position with the proper seriousness,
and I'dll do his best to fulfill the
responsibilities of the job.
The Crier staff would like to extend
congra tulations and the best of luck to
"Al" as he takes the school "Do^mtoi-m"

Lim^RY RECEIVES AN ^OUTSTANDING DONATION
The Asheville-Biltmore College library
has recently received one of the largest
donations of books ever made to the
college. Mrs. Sherburne VMpple of 305
Vanderbilt Road here in Asheville has
given the college a collection of several
hundred books. This collcction was a
welcome gift to the college because they
have greatly augmented the library*s
collection of English literature and will
prove invaluable to the students in the
English Department, as well as to other
students, for years to come*
Indluded in this collection are books
by William Blake, an author noted for his
works on both art and literature.
We are so grateful to Ite. Whipple for
her generousity and for her interest in
Asheville-Biltmore Coliege•
We are also happy to have in our
library Miss Vivian Spurgeons who is
proving invaluable to ly&rs. Eustis in the
work of cataloging books.
