THE RIDGERUNNER
PAGE THREE

By Elsie Kronenfeld
Peggy Dodge said it — You can
tell that a man painted the current
show in Asheville Biltmore’s Li
brary. It is virile and has a lot of
swing to it. I like the use of ink
with other mediulns. I think that
Norman Sultan has what it takes.
Mr. Bunker, of our Art Department,
says to just wait until he — that’s
Mr. Sulton — reaches his peak.
Does sound as if this reviewer
thinks the shows are getting better
and better. You are right.
The shows are beginning to do
what a college gallery should do, ex
pose new talent that is experiment
ing in new forms. A college is
where the forward movements
should first show up. Traditional
art has homes all over. Museums
must perform this task of giving
permanent homes to things that re
flect schools and trends.

K-ETTEE CLUB NEWS
By Denise Diamond ■
The K-ette Club of Asheville-
Biltmore, in joining with the other
organizations on campus, helped
decorate the Christmas tree located
in the lobby of the Ramsey Library.
Hoping to establish a tradition on
campus, decorations were donated
to the library for use on fumre
Christmas trees. With the help of
Delta Phi Omega, K-ettes also do
nated the tree.
For a Christmas project, K-ettes
is giving a needy family in the
Asheville area a "Christmas Train”
filled with gifts of food, clothes, and
toys. After playing Santa Claus to
the family on Christmas Eve, the
club will go caroling.
New members of K-ettes are
Kathy Wojtowski, Beverly Orr,
Margaret Crownover, Linda Tliomp-
son, Nancy Kiser, Suzanne New-
some, and Ellen Bryan. As a fund
raising project these new members
are having a rummage sale, and
with the proceeds are planning to
buy a gift for the college.
