Fresh from a two-game sweep of St. Leo and Blscayne during a trip to Florida, A-B Is cur rently 12-5 and is seeking its fourth win in a row. One rating service favors the Bulldogs by 41 points after they beat St. Leo 87-72 in Tampa and followed that with an over time 79-75 win over Blscayne in Miami. Guy Batsel continues to set the scoring pace for the Bull dogs, averaging 20.3 points per game. Despite a bid night against St. Leo where he was limited to six points, the flashy guard from Ocala and St. Augustine, Fla., has tallied, a total of 345 points and has clicked on 53 per cent of his field goal attempts. The "Batman" is one of four Bulldog starters averaging in the double figures. Arrick is the top reboimd- er with 197, 11.6 per game, followed by Mai Blankenship from Weaverville, N. C., with 135, a 7.9 average, and Lucas with 85, a 5.0 average. Arrick is the leading foul shooter, picking up 61 points from the free throw line, fol lowed by Lucas with 57 and Batsel with 51. Seven Bulldogs have a better than 70 per cent success at the foul line, led by Tom Lindley from Kokomo with a sizzling 93 per cent. The others, with their accuracy rate, include Lee Shuster from Jacksonville — 90 per cent, Lar ry Roland from Asheville — 85, Blankenship with 80, Batsel with 77, Arrick with 74 and Lu cas with 72. A-B has won six of its home games while droK>ing only two this season. On the road. Coach Bob Hartman’s charges have grabbed another six while los ing three. A-B's opponent tonight has found it tough sledding against the Bulldogs since A-B has been a senior college. The Scots from Maryville have dropped all four of the games. Last year, A-B beat the Scots 87-76 and 97-83 on the way to a 15-8 season. After the homecoming clash, A-B will take to the road for games Feb. 7 at Mars Hill, Feb. 10 with St. Andrews at Laurin- burg, and Feb. 11 against Pem broke.
